Limping- *Sad Update :(*

Recommended Posts

My poor Blanche has died

She'd never really recovered from all her problems but had been spending the last few weeks living back in the cube with her friends. She'd started to eat more and was happily scratching around but wasn't putting any weight back on. She'd been quite hunched for a few days but still eating- enjoyed some cucumber & porridge yesterday and sat on my lap in the sunshine, gripped my finger and had a little purr. She'd started to look a bit doddery though and I realised she wasn't going to get better so tucked her up in the nest box last night and made the hard decision to take her to the vets in the morning.

She was still in the nestbox this morning so decided not to move her until our appointment, but when I went out to get her, she'd already died  . I'm so upset... wish I could have done something to make her better... At least Phyllis was sat with her at the end and it saved her the distress of the journey to the vets. I just hope she didn't suffer :( .

Thought I'd post up a photo of her in happier times when she was top chook and queen of all she surveyed....

Shall miss you Blanche. xx

Oh I am so sorry to hear that. You must be devastated.

I had hoped that she'd made a full recovery since I hadn't heard from you for a little while.

Well at least you should take comfort in knowing that you did everything you possibly could for her and she lived the remainder of her days in happiness with her friends. They do really care for one another when the chips are down don't they? In a way she probably went more comfortably in her nest than endure the stress of going to the vets.

My thoughts are with you at this time.

Lots of love

Bx
