Does anybody ever feel ..... Part # 8

Recommended Posts

Back from school early because they cancelled 'Enrichment' - thy have finally realised no-one bothered going to General Studies so re-named it, then cancelled it again

I'll probably have a tuna wrap for lunch, or mash and something - will let you know

Lemon + honey marmelade sounds wow!

We have to do an A-level in General Studies, its a bit of science, maths, english and current affairs, all rolled into one exam.

Enrichment has kind of been made up by school to replace it, we have to log all the time we are in lessons and get it signed off, and if we have enough hours, they'll give us an 'award' which 'will look really impressive on your personal statements' - I don't see how if they made it up

We have to do 5 things from things like work placement, volunteering, sign language, cooking, mentoring, sixth form choir, sixth form drama club, debating, I think there was a few languages you could do aswell, things like that.

They try to make it exciting and give you a choice which is really good, but then they cancel it.

That sounds interesting, what 5 things did you choose? But if the 5 things are in other places, like work placement, what do you do in the lesson time? I think I may be getting confused :? We didn't do anything like that, I only did Art and Theatre Studies for A Levels. I did start Sociology as well, mostly because it was a new subject for our school, but I really didn't like the teacher so I dropped it.

I chose work placement, cooking, mentoring, sign language and I've forgotten the last :lol:

The lessons are on Monday afternoon so we'd leave at 1 and then go wherever the work placement is, or other people will stay in school and do the lesson. I think they ask your supervisor at the work place to sign the form for that lesson.

Some people got off General Studies last year by volunteering at the local hospital making tea and talking to patients :)

You have to mentor year 7's or year 10's. I've done it a few times before so it should be alright. Just help them get organised and talk them through things they need help with.

Cooking is in school, they used to do cooking, but then turned the room into the art room.

We did sign language at primary school and 7 of us cam to this school, we only remember the stupid things  I think I could probably remember the alphabet.

First proper day at 6th form today, bike didn't break this time :D . But, school hadn't printed off our timetables :(, so had to wait for them to arrived, then I found out I was meant to be in a room, that didn't exist (yet)! But apart from that, it was a good day. Got let out of double physics 45 mins early because the teacher didn't have anything else to teach!

Glad it went okay, Fred :wink:especially the bike related part

Physics is alright IMHO...but I wouldn't like a double.

Sticking to the science theme...my neck hurts. I had Biology last lesson today and we were finishing our skin receptors experiment..aka poke your partner with pins while their eyes are closed and see if they can feel whether it's one pin or two.

My partner decided that he wanted to try my neck...ouch :(

That seems like some sort of torture! Both double physics and sticking pins in each other

I think we had to do things like that JJ for GCSE.

I think you may have been right about the CCL's being cockerels Chickvic :(

Can't believe I thought it was just in the breeding before :(

Lets hope the Brilley White chick is a girl, not sure what I'll do now it could only be one girl, may see if I can get some friends to go with her then eventually integrate them in with Matilda + Theodore.

Hi peeps.

Didn't have lunch today - too stuck into working on the kitchen - and I still haven't finished it - did clean the cube when the sun was out though. Dinner tonight is chops in a tomatoey (homegrown - I found some that were blight free, so picked as many as I could) and oniony (also from the garden) sauce. Not from the garden is a pinch of dried herbs and some Lee & Perrins. We are having baked spuddies - from the garden. Actually they are huge and have funny shapes like very fat bananas!

Ah well Scwamble, you are definitely not a witch then, seeing as poking with pins was how they were discovered (bearing in mind the layers of skirts no wonder there were so many "witches").

I loved Physics - it just didn't like me - could never remember the formulas, but I was really good at tinkering with things. :D

And I know a rude word in sign language. It is bovine related.
