Clur
For me the two main things I can think of straight away was having an envelope pushed through the door, addressed to us with a few hundred pounds in it. Completely anonymous, but contained a note wishing us 'happy holidays' (both our cars had blown up a few weeks before and we couldn't afford to replace them until our mystery benefactor stepped in!). I also found out last week that I've been offered my dream job

Being able to converse in French with 15 people at dinner whilst visiting DD's boyfriend's family in Southern Brittany this year...(mmm....OH says not so good, but I remember it as being ok...the more wine I drank the more fluent I became... )

Laura & CTB
Hi Sadie Nice to meet you OOH the french thing I remeber well from a week away earlier in the year when we were staying at a private villa and next door's kitten managed to get through the fence - no where in the phrase book did it mention "escaped kitten" etc !! Very funny sign language though............
craftyhunnypie
We may have done a lot, but we have also had some heartache too... Nearly losing my sister in childbirth. Orchid sadly dying suddenly. The very very sad loss of hubby's dad (my lovely father in law). I guess life is really trying us at the moment. I wonder what it's trying to teach us though? I hope to do a few more lovely things before the year is out. Here's hoping! Emma.x

Valkyrie
Well I joined a while ago, but it's only recently that I tend to be here most of the time. In that time I have visited a lady in Reading who showed us the Cube (was sold immediately) and bought one soon after, followed by our Orpies which were my birthday present last year. Met local Omleteers, visited Egg Lou and seen her chickies, gone walking with Jlo, chat and have fun with new like minded friends on the crazy thread (originally started by Mark - Angels4 before we made it crazier), bought eggs to hatch under a broody hen - sadly lost her, but the biggest thing was to dispatch, cook and eat the one that turned into a boy. It was sad, but as I intend one day to have a smallholding it was the first step - you could say a life-changing experience for sure. Old Speckled Hen
My daughter got a first at Cambridge, worked as a sailing instuctor for a year and is now putting herself through Drama School in London. MedusA
Waves to MedusA - Honeybee Hotel sounds fabulous, have you named them all yet Don't tempt me. OH already thinks I need to get out more and talk to "real" people! (Don't tell him but as the queen has a green dot on her back - denoting she's a 2009 queen. Whenever I see her I start humming "Green Queenie" to the tune of David Bowie's "Jean Genie")

Nutmeg
Lovely to read everyone's interesting and exciting news/adventures. Was going to say my one fab thing was qualifying as a Psychotherapist after 4 years of studying, followed by my graduation ceremony where my hubby, kids and fellow students cheered and clapped loudly as I walked up to collect my degree. But as I can only choose one fab thing it has to be my DD finally finding a new group of friends after 4 years of misery/bullying and her realising that she is worth so much more than what she put up with for so long. That alone is worth all the degrees in the world!

Clash City Rocker
Invested in some raised beds for vegetables in the garden. It has been my first attempt at "growing your own" and it's had varying degrees of sucess. Potatoes, Carrots, Beans, Tomatoes no problems, sweetcorn and leeks a bit hit and miss. Chickens ate all the Broccoli. I will have another attempt next year. Mrs CCR bought a share in a race horse "Wenger" she owns the 2 hind legs!!!!, It's due to start its first race of the season in October.
