JM
After saying "I'd love to have a go at that" whenever I've heard a choir on TV for a good few years, I've finally gone and done it!! I went for the first time on Monday and really enjoyed it . I've not sung in a choir since I was about 15 (many years ago!), so I was really nervous before I went! And I started tap dancing classes before the summer break, so with that, the choir and my saxophone lessons, I'm being a bit musical at the moment! PurpleTree
I'd love to be in a choir, I was in the school choir and in the school production of Oklahoma. The only local one I know of is the Church choir and I don't get there every Sunday. Did you have to audition? Would love to try tap dancing too. Sounds like your being very busy and musical
JM
No audition luckily - I don't think I would have been brave enough for that!
Chucky Mama
I must say that I have been tempted too, well done JM I am sure you will have lots of fun.
Olly
Oh, well done - I joined a choir ten years ago, and I can honestly say that I can't imagine life without it now. I have made a lot of friends through my choir, but even if I hadn't, I have had so much fun, and learned so much music. It's also great for team-work, discipline and learning to breathe properly! I love singing anyway but there is a really special feeling about singing in harmony with a group of other people. Most amateur choirs don't ask you to audition, in my experience - have a look around and you'll probably find one near you, you could start looking here. Go on, you could be singing carols at Christmas this year!
Omletina Kyckling
I joined our village WI choir in February and it's the best thing I've done in years. I love to sing and love to get together with the ladies, so it's a win-win situation!! In fact, I'm going to choir in about ten minutes. Enjoy your choir, and if any others are thinking of joining one, I can heartily recommend it....singing is so good for the soul!!
Lewis
Glad you enjoyed it I don't sing (well not in public ) but all my family do + I'm involved with a few groups + know what you mean about everyone being friendly and being good for teamwork ... I'm off to rehearsals in 10 minutes
ubereglu
Sounds good. I'm still deciding whether to join college choir, I want to, but it depends if I get into the engineering scheme thing I've applied to do!
alih
I have just signed up to join the parents' choir for the school carol concert - my 9-year-old son is mortified to the extent that when I told him I was planning on joining he begged me not to and i almost relented until his dad intervened and said i should do it! there is something about singing that is so uplifting isn't there? i used to sing in the school choir but that was...ohh....25 years ago
JM
Sounds good. I'm still deciding whether to join college choir, I want to, but it depends if I get into the engineering scheme thing I've applied to do! That sounds interesting too - what is the engineering scheme? (I was the only girl in my engineering course many moons ago - and I've only ever worked with about 10 women engineers in the years since I graduated.) ubereglu
It's in partnership with RNAS Yeovilton and a group of us have to go about solving a practical problem-last year it was about wheelchair access, this year it will be about fuel spillage when the engine cools down. It's run through the Engineering Education System and I've got an interview for it next week.
