OK, its NOT really a Wheelie bin, but a little green bin of the same sort, for the roadside food collection.

 

Problem is that the stupid bin blokes seem to think its OK to leave anyones food bin by my gate.

Now, I line mine & keep it pristine, but others don't & to have to s"Ooops, word censored!"e out 2 inches of someone elses rotting dinner is really horrid

 

I sopke to the council today (again!) & as these bins are not chipped or marked with an address, all they can suggest is that I mark it somehow......

 

Which is where you all come in - how can I mark it, & with what?

you can buy wheelie bin stickers which have flowers, herbs that kind of think on them.. when I say stickers they are like a great big transfer type not iddy biddy one

I wouldn't mind so much, but my neighbours keep getting my nice clean food bin (all the food is in bags & the bin is lined) & I have to de-scuzz their horrid bin which they just throw the food into

 

I could go & speak to them I guess, but I am not good at confrontation & I reckon they would deny it

We don't have food bins yet and TBH don't have any food waste, so it wouldn't get used anyhow. I have white adhesive numbers that are on my three wheelies bins (for garden waste, recycling and rubbish)

Sarah, do you have a Home Bargains down your way as they have number stickers in and also some similar to the Pimp my Bin ones. I know number stickers are 99p for a pack of three of the same numbers and I think the big fancy ones are around £3.

Wow which to choose? We have duckies on our bin splashing in puddles & holding a brolly.

I also have a sticker for our garden waste bin. Haven't put it on yet, but it's of kittens.

I have ordered a nice circular sticker with our house number in the middle in large print & its name around the edge.

 

They also do some jazzt stars, so I might get a set of those too, to scatter over the bins

 

There is a lot to be said for making your bin look so nasty that no one esle would want to pinch it

I sprayed ours with a gold spray the sort you use at Christmas - a big number 11 - still end up with number 9's I think the council men do it for a laugh - they have to do something - it must be boring. Apart from being there when they come cant think of anything else

maybe its your neighbours secret ploy to get a nice clean bin every week (or fortnight) as they know you'll clean it out for them But on a serious note that is very annoying a rude of them to do this. I love the stickers you have found and think I shall do something to our bins. Not that they get taken by the neighbours, its just it would be easier to make out ours in a huddle if bins (I'm sure they like to chat ) instead of looking at all of them.

No, but what about the Omlet stickers for Eglus? They'd liven up a bin nicely!

 

I had a wheelie-bin decal at the last house, it does cheer it up especially if you have to park it in the front garden 'cos there's nowhere else for it to go.
