Ygerna
How cool are they? Did they take long to make?
stoice
I don't think they took her too long. She used fabric remnants she had lying about (Plain on top and floral or stripey material for their 'knickers'), rice in the base (Inside a separate cloth 'bag') and filled with cushion stuffing stuff. (How technical am i? LOL) She hand drew a chicken shape, added extra for gusset to sew along (Is that the right terminology?) and cut out felt shapes for their combs and wattles. She works full time but managed to make 8 in a week or so. I think they're fab so I've bought 'babs' from her. Sadly she only sold one at the art fair so they're going into another one nearer Christmas where they should sell.

lisaroo2
Any chance of posting a pattern? Am at the sight of them and would love to make a 'flock' to go in the conservatory. Am useless at sewing unless it's idiot-proof so would really need a pattern. PPPPPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASEEEEEEEEEE????? missuscluck
I have had a go at making some of these for xmas pressies. The first one was a bit odd looking so Im keeping her. Made some adjustments to the pattern and Im happy with the subsequent ones. I have made 3 now and they are going in my hampers. One to my mum one to my sister and one to my nephew who would love chickens but cant have them so he will love a stuffed one Thankyou so much for the idea. I spotted a really nice one in Laura Ashley a few weeks ago and thought then I would have a crack at it.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Lovely!
stoice
This is the pattern she used. I've shown the two types of comb she personalised each chicken with, below that is the beak, then the wattle (Cut out two of these) The teardrop shape is the bottom section of the chicken and is about 9 inches long. When stitching together, my mum says to start at the point of the tail (To the right of the chicken shape in the photo) with the pointy end of the teardrop shape and work your way to the front of the hen and you should be fine. Otherwise the gusset wouldn't fit properly. Hope this helps. They're a bit irregular to measure but make sure your chicken shape looks similar to this pic. (Or maybe photocopy this image and enlarge it to get the same proportions?) Good luck
