This morning Hubby asked if I had let the chickens out after breakfast, I said no! then why are they out!

 

Some lovely person has cut a hole in the chicken wire door panel and stolen one of the vorverk cockerels!

 

unfortunately we were going to eat them ( we still have one) in the next few weeks so they probably taste great! I hope they are keeping it to lay eggs as they will be waiting a long time!

 

I called the police and they asked if we were sure it wasnt a fox or dog, I said unless the foxs have wire cutters and can push the wire to one side big enough for a human, I was quite sure!

 

The only bright side is they did at least pic the smallest panel of chicken wire so the damage is the most repairable.

OMG!! Thats disgusting!! Why do people steal chickens? They make me so angry! The poor thing will be terrified! Really hope they get caught.

Thanks Dippy bird but I bet it didnt get chance to be terrified, they probably killed it for food or a laugh

 

The police also said that if they know they are there and with Christmas coming they may be be back!

Y'know how farmers can legaly shoot dogs which are hassling lambs /killing livestock? Wonder if the same rule applies here?

I think I would be investing in a very large, savage looking dog... oh, even better, a PICTURE of a savage looking dog with "I live here" under it and a tape recorder linked to the flood lights.. when triggered, terrifying hounds of hell barking....

Sad but true - spoke to Dad this morning and he was telling me that they're even stealing the central heating oil for the famrs now!! Apparently, they role in in the dead of night with a lorry and just drain the tanks - first thing you know about it is when you get up to a freezing cold house

 

I'm not normally a violent woman, however....

Nicking heating oil from tanks is pretty commonplace around me: whole tanks getting lifted is also a possibility if house is empty /tank is accessible.
