Omlet Staff hanns Posted November 9, 2009 Omlet Staff Share Posted November 9, 2009 Hi, Jimmy Doherty is touring the country looking at the reason why people keep chickens. He's really interested in anyone with around 20 chickens who keeps them for more reasons than for food or for selling the eggs for money. If you fit the bill and fancy putting yourself forward for this please email me, johannes@omlet.co.uk. Thank you, Johannes
Olly
Well I won't qualify, but there are a few Omleteers with more than 20 chickens! Come on, you know who you are ... own up! I'd LOVE the chance to meet Jimmy Doherty. Do you think if I just kept chasing mine round and round the Cube he'd notice that there are oly three of them? Lesley
Come on Janty ... Tasha ... you must both surely qualify? I was just thinking the same thing ... Lesley ... Griffin ... *coughs* We have already been asked by someone else locally and much as I'd like to work with Jimmy we said no - I'm the most unphotogenic person in the world! Carl would say 'yes' if we were paid enough to pay off our mortgage.......but then we'd have to be paid more than I imagine Jimmy will be getting!! Aunty e
ARGH. We're getting more when we move (and one of the new eglus in yellow hopefully!) but I don't think that will be in time. Anyway, the main reason we keep them is because they're cute, which I don't think counts.

Ditto and I refused for the same reason I actually think you come across very well Lesley and would have been ideal for this That's why I suggested you both I think she's now found someone though - a contact of mine, who lives on a narrowboat near here, with permanent moorings, land, pigs, geese, sheep and tons of chickens! Redwing
That sounds lovely! what a cool lifestyle
The Dogmother
She's brilliant, in fact you might have met her at the D&D course; my age or a bit older, blonde hair worn back, motorbike. She has a mixture of ex-batts, egg layers and meat birds; they use the same abbatoir as Lesley (I suggested it to them) for their bigger animals. What a cool life to live, I read something about someone similar around here and they save loads on tax and have a bike (normal push bike) so don't have to pay for parking either. I'll keep an eye out on tele
Guest
I have 15 and a very photogenic kid! If I buy 5 more do you think Jimmy will come???
BeckyBoo
I'll be up to 17 by Sunday, but I'd get three more if it meant a visit Trouble is, my garden is at it's winter worst and the run is a bit of a bog, it'd take me a weekend just to get everything presentable BeckyBoo

Rona
Don't have enough chickens and am certainly not photogenic enough but agree with all comments that Jimmy is lovely. We went to his farm at Halloween with the GDs and he was around and about working and talking to everyone. We went into the haunted house and when we came out DIL had been having a good old natter with him and Mikaela (sp?) Before we left he happily posed with her for a photo. He was also very good with all the children who were there. Work colleague said she had her son's birthday party there and the woman organising it couldn't have made more of a fuss over the little lad.
