Magic Moments

Recommended Posts

We have cows and a bull running in the fields next to us, and yesterday morning when we were walking the dogs, the bull was standing next to one of the cows who was gently licking his ear. The expression on their faces was quite superb. I felt quite honoured that we had shared such an intimite gesture with them. For me a bit of a magic moment. Probably quite silly really for us to feel like that, but we are both pretty soppy when it comes to animals! :D Does anyone else have any magic moments to share?

My little black-and-white cat, who wouldn't come out of the spare room for months, is now a fully paid-up house cat. (Unfortunately she's still being duffed up by Wellington, but that's another story).

Yesterday I went up the garden to feed the hens before work, and she came trotting up the path to be stroked, and then sat and watched me while I fed them. She has had a hard life, so it's lovely to see her looking so relaxed and enjoying the garden.

Most of my Magic Moments would involve gardens or animals!

I watched a Magpie this morning land on the sloping roof outside our bedroom window. It had a chip in its mouth, probably thrown out by a neighbour and it hopped down to the edge of the roof, popped the chip in the guttering and then hopped back up the roof where it picked up a large leaf, hopped back to the chip and carefully covered it with the leaf  . I hope he remembers where he hid it and comes back to eat it later.

I had a dog years ago called Ben he was madly in love with the German sheppard female dog next door, he once stole a pork chop from our kitchen & went round & laid it at her feet the look on his face was priceless when she accepted it then 'she beat him up' poor chap

When my eldest son came home for the first time in 10 months following his motorbike crash, his cat, Whisky, came in from outside, went and sat on his lap for about 2 minutes, purring. He then asked to be let out again but retuned within another couple of minutes, jumped up onto my son and gave him a mouse!

Still makes me  thinking about it now!

Lovely moments! :D

Mine was only the other week driving down a quiet lane in the dark, spotted a muntjac deer tentatively about to step into the road so I slowed right down and crept forwards. When I was about 10 yards from her, a tiny spotty baby muntjac stepped out behind her! It was so gorgeous and only about the size of a jack russell dog. They stood and looked into the car headlights, then turned around and calmly disappeared back into the darkness. 8)

When my 'big grown up nearly as tall as me' daughter wants to climb in my lap for a mummy-cuddle.

Makes my heart melt.

Doesn't it just, I hope that mine will never be too old for cuddles, they are too big and heavy though, I get buried in large people from time to time :D

Mine is when I get my cuddle and kiss from my 22 year old daughter. She's in the fourth year at uni so they don't happen too often but she's a very kissy and cuddly girl :D

My ES on the other hand pulls a face when I try to give him a cuddle but YS still loves them :D

I love it when my cats cuddle up to Cookie and wipe themselves around her legs :D

Edited to add another one: We always tell Cookie to sit before we give her her food. Dave was in the kitchen too at the time and when I said sit, they both sat down at the same time. It was so funny and amazing, almost as if he understood. He's just done it again.

I had one last week, when I told my 2 year old great nephew that I loved him,and he turned round to me and said "aunty Jo, I love you sooooo much !" I had tears streaming down my face and a big grin at the same time. :D

Also, when I went to check on the hens the other night,I shone the torch in to do a head count and Margaret as sat with her wing round Judy! How cute is that?

Molly our Jack Russell (at the back in the avatar) was a rescue dog. She was only a young dog but she had lots of problems. She was found in a very sorry state and given to Noeline Haylette, a wonderful woman who rescues animals. She told us that Molly was afraid of men and children. When we first brought her home she was all nerves, if I picked up a ruler or spirit level she'd run behind a chair, she would avoid crowds like the plague. When I took her for a walk she wouldn't go past the national (primary) school if the children were out in the playground. If people came to the house she would disappear upstairs or hide behind the stable. Then one day she just jumped up onto my lap and fell fast asleep totally relaxed. I have no idea why she picked that particular time to do this, but is was magic. She still won't go past the school I have to carry her past. I think that's a ploy she just wants a cuddle. Jenny (at the front of the avatar) is a complete nutter, she loves everyone, dives into bed at the first opportunity, she hates thunder storms, Molly doesn't care, but they're both scared of the chooks.... Sorry if the post was a little boring. :D

Aww, thats a lovely story not boring at all, really heartwarming :D

My magic moment is more of a mental picture I have stored in my head (and heart)

Over 17 years ago we took our son and daughter to the seaside and they were both walking up a hill holding hands, they were aged 2 and 4 and looked so cute it almost made me cry. I didnt have a camera with me and i thought to myself I must remember this moment for ever and to this day i can remember every detail right down to their clothes and shoes and even how my daughters frilly socks looked so cute over her shoes, and it still makes me well up

They are 19 and 21 now!
