Redwing
I was given three silkie eggs when I picked up some chicks One was not fertile, my broody Pekin sat on the other two for 8 days then got bored/distracted The eggs were stone cold when I discovered them, one egg had died but the other was still moving so in the incubator it went, I felt it deserved a chance well its pipped and has started to unzip Fingers crossed, come on little guy! Chook n Boo Mum
What a shame if nothing has happened after the initial pipping .....there must be a reason for it Tasha, if you were meant to have another little one it would have been peeping away by now I'd have thought......I know I was very upset when Buffie's other 3 eggs didn't make it, but with the benefit of hindsight it was as well she only had 3 survive as any more would probably have finished her off {{hugs}} Sha x

Redwing
still no movement, I will give up on it I think Its probably just as well, it would have been a lone chick anyway

craftyhunnypie
If it has part unzipped, I would lift the end of the shell off & see if it oozes itself out. Plus you would see if it had absorbed the yolk etc. I would want to see & know why it didn't get out. If it then does get out or looks fully formed, yolk absorbed etc - then at least you have given it a chance at life. That's my theory anyway - I give any that are nearly out a chance (help) & just leave any unpipped ones, as if they didn't at least pip - then they won't be strong chicks. Sha is right - Ma Nature does know best. Emma.x
Redwing
Well, the tale continues! We went to turn off the inccy last night and just to double, triple check there was no hope I put the egg to my ear and it cheeped So today, three days after it pipped it has restarted its unzipping task IF it hatches it really will be a miracle Fingers crossed all over again
