Come on EH bring it on !!!

Recommended Posts

My neighbour got chickens a year after me and her neighbour a bit after. My neighbour (who i have no problems with) decided she wanted to hatch eggs with the previso that if males they would be dinner, fair enough , not something i would take the chance with much to my kids disgust

So she ends up with 2 hatches, 1 female 1 male. the male is huge now and VERY noisy cock a doodle dooing all day with 6-8 houses in close vicinity.

So yesterday she knocks on the door saying she has had a letter from Enviromental health saying someone has complained about her chickens. BUT she rang them and they said all 3 houses had been complained about and i would get a letter  smell, flies (in December  ) and noise.

I would normally panic but i know my 3 chickens and duck are well cared for, clean (though a little mushy from the rain) and well fed. Someone is welcome to come visit me, i know from on here that i shouldn't have a problem.

Apparently there is going to be a noise thingy put up to record the noise, well durr maybe the cockerel has something to do with it.

I went around to see her and she was annoyed someone had complained :wall: well it was waiting to happen really!

Her neighbour has 10-12 chickens in a filthy garden with chickens roaming all day and dog muck everywhere so maybe the flies come from there :vom:

So i have surprised myself by how calm i'm being lol usually worry about everything and if i didn't come here i wouldn't know what to expect, ''come on in and see the luxury my chickens have'' quite looking forward to showing them off!

The Omleteer style of chicken-keeping is not likely to produce complaints - like you say, once they find the luxury of your chickens, and see the problem is the unsanitary conditions of your neighbour's neighbour and your neighbour's noisy cockerel, then you shouldn't have any problem.

Crikey, I worry about Blodwyn complaining loudly when she wants to be let out, but in reality she is quieter than next door's washing machine and certainly quieter than their cockatiel. You can show your girls are quiet, well fed, clean and loved!

Try not to worry, I think they'll take one look at your set up and leave :D .

And if they find any problems with noise levels with a few hens then they'd best start assessing on lawn mowers, motorbikes, children playing and dogs barking then! :notalk:

.........3am parties, very loud (sometimes funny) arguments all hours, barking dogs etc etc!
