Valkyrie
Well done Claire - I didn't think the skimmed milk thing would work, so I'm impressed! I'm hoping to go to the bantam show in Newbury next month, so I've started making a list of the things to look out for - if they have any for sale - like Stalosan. Kicking myself for not taking any home from the Coventry show - but then I still have quite a lot left. And Diatom - bulky but always useful. Now I'm always getting told off for stockpiling cupboards and I've been sorting the chicken cupboard out this afternoon. Found lots of grit but no oystershell. I've found lots of places to put things - but when I look around I find tons of stuff still not with a home. And I dropped a bottle of bitter lemon which fizzed up - poo better wait till it settles before opening. I even found wild bird fat balls and peanuts (which will go in the bin - none of the birds round here like peanuts and they go off so quickly - I don't think they'd be nice now even if they did like them. Cleaned the cube today. Smells delightful - almost climbed in myself. Luckily I have a spare set of roosting bars in the greenhouse and they were all clean and dry. The girls are having a wonderful time exploring the areas previously cut off to them.
Space Chick
It may sound gross, but I keep old towels for wiping down the cleaned roosting bars to dry them and other similar jobs Mine is also spick and span, and smells lovely as I have dusted it with red mite powder I have also done some cooking but not everything I wanted to do, however, I do have 8 lasagnes for the freezer, a big pan of beef stew, and all my veg is ready for our lamb sunday dinner which I am going to have to start making in a bit Claire I am very impressed with the skimmed milk to cream
Lewis
Nothing gets your pulse up like a bit of ebaying! Was just bidding on a few things that all ended at 5 ... they went for stupid money so left them and got outbid in the end - can always find some more We have some old tea towels in the greehouse for things like that too Debs
PurpleTree
Debs do you do deliveries? All your frozen ready meals sound lovely, all my favourite type of things We had a yummy chinese last night, I had pork and cashew nuts with noodles and beansprouts. I didn't have any urge to put grated cheese on it Then we played bowling on the Wii with my mum and dad, they had a go at the tennis with hubby too. My mum now wants one Went for a walk along the front at Penarth this afternoon, and had an ice cream on the pier. Was lovely to get out for a walk, without worrying about slipping over on ice I use on old tea towel for drying all the bits from the Eglu after washing. Valkyrie
Food glorious foooooooooooood! Ciaran has bought a bed and is demolishing his old one - and probably the rest of his bedroom too judging from the crashes and clanging sounds. This evening we made all the girls go in the cube run for tea. It worked fairly well - the odd peck at the pekins. I was surprised to see Tipsy dish out a few pecks and then she got chased! Poor Kitty had the worst of it - but nothing really bad. She was going under the big girls crops and they couldn't see her! Mini was the first to go to bed followed by Mercedes. We did open the run door because we thought the little ones might be getting stressed and only Kitty and Skye came out. Skye desperately wanted to go to bed and so she eventually zipped in and up. Kitty went back in the run too and continued to find food. That little crop ended up almost as big as her! Squirt went up next so we were a bit worried that she might go for the little ones - but all quiet - then up went the fatties. Tipsy gave Kitty the chase around before going up. Tipsy had a drink and then seemed to have a bit of a problem with the ramp, but there was only a little squabble before she went in there. Erin closed the door and all quiet. I hope it goes OK tomorrow night - it was getting a bit chilly sitting out there. Debs do you do deliveries? Good idea - for this neck of the woods I think Debs will have to hijack Laurmurfs car with the nice blue badge!

PurpleTree
Does that mean I'll to wait until July? It's not really casserole/hot pot/stew type weather then, although you never know...
ClaireG
I've now made the pesto type stuff for later That was really easy to I'm thinking the creamy type stuff might work with fruit to make a sort of mousse. It's basically just highly areated, beaten milk.
Space Chick
You have a point PT, most of my friends babies have been born November to May when warming casseroles and stews have been really appreciated. Lasagnes, Cottage Pies and Fish pies work all year around though surely? As do quiches and plate pasties
PurpleTree
Cottage pies and lasagnas Hubby only likes salmon but I eat other fish (not prawns though, they give me the creeps). Quiches and pasties sound good too. I'm feeling hungry now, hopefully my tea will be ready soon, hubby's doing a roast
Valkyrie
Warning - letting off steam required. Murray came home and immediately started dictating to me. See clenched jaw otherwise something might be said in return that would escalate into WW3,4 and 5. Next he starts ranting at Ciaran (who has put his demolished bedroom on the bed in the spare room). I wasn't really bothered and it was out of the way - the sheets need a wash anyway and mum has gone to stay with lil bro. Ciaran comes down on his way out for a ciggy and says your husband blah blah. I said join the club - but try and ignore it - he must be tired and cranky - let it ride even if you want to scream like me. So Ciaran took that on board and they are now best of chums. Erin was given a packet of sweets or biccies - I can't even bring myself to look. OK - why didn't he bring something for Ciaran. Arghhh. So he still lords it around and shouts at me what are these bags on the dining room table for. I said I don't know. What are they doing are they washing or what. I DON'T KNOW I HAVEN'T BEEN IN THERE. There's no need to shout he says. Apparently Erin has bagged some clothing for the charity shop. So here I am down here stewing, steam coming out from my ears - blood pressure doing rather nicely on boil while everyone else in the house are BBF's. Splutter splutter splutter! Apologies. I think I will wait before turning in and do mum's newspaper Sudoku. xxx
Lewis
You can vent here! Thats what we're for Sounds like father with his rubbish presents - he went to Japan for a week and bought us back some frog biscuits and a tiny little owl ornament thing ... we still ate the biscuits though Just doing some Biology work on nerves, reflex arc and mutiple sclerosis ... tis ok, just the stuff on t'internet is either too basic GCSE level, or degree where I don't understand every other word so I'm trying to combine the 2 to make sense I have General Studies exam tomorrow ... can't be bothered with it at all and you can't really revise Biology the next day which is a re-take that I should revise for but I got a B last time so not too bothered either way - wrong attitude I know and I get frustrated with myself, but I just sit there and the revision doesn't go into my head! Space Chick
Morning all Good luck with the exam today Lewis Koojie - I think its a man mentality, Phil always says things like "What is that doing there?" for starters I am in another room, so can't see what that is or where there is but if I say "What are you talking about, I am in the kitchen" he gets stroppy and accuses me of shouting. Apparently what I should do is drop everything, stop doing whatever I am doing and run to his aid to discover what that is and explain ther reasoning on why it is there. I agree it is off of Murray to have bought something for Erin but not Ciaran Well I can't believe its morning, I feel I need another few hours sleep
Valkyrie
Good luck Lewis - I think it's probably a bit of a block for you at the moment because deep down you are concerned even if you say you aren't. Just go ooooohhhhhhmmmmm (but not in the exam hall otherwise all your schoolmated will shift their chairs away from you!). Debs - I feel I could do with a few more zzz's too. And funnily enough I was in a different room. I always try and treat both young'uns the same - although I feel the need to even things up between Ciaran - thus getting "he's your favourite" from Murray and Erin. Neither can see what I have observed. Anyhow today's another day, chickens are sort of getting on and no bloodshed so I can leave them to their own devices - as long as there are different food stations for each to hop to. ClaireG
Best of luck Lewis. Koojie, Simon is like that to with the whats that doing there or the plain whats that! Then i get the where's the such and such, namely things of his like keys and glasses that i'm supposed to know where he's put I have no idea what im going to do tomorrow. We have no electric from 9-4 I can't even go to the tearoom/village shop for lunch or a cuppa as the whole village is being switched off.
PurpleTree
I don't think Hubby's ever done that to me, neither of us can ever be bothered to argue over much. It's usually me asking him where I've put things, I've even emailed him in work asking him if he knows where something it. Going to Dunelm with mum this avo, to buy a bit of net curtain stuff to go on my bathroom window, I'm fed up with the slatty blind, it's impossible to clean so looks grotty. If the bathroom was upstairs I might've left it with nothing, but it's downstairs next to the front door, and it's a pretty big window, so I feel a bit exposed even though it's a frosted window. Must try and resist buying any other goodies.

I think I'm worried about failing, but can't be bothered to do anything about it because I think I'll fail anyway? Physics is next week so I'll try for that because I know if I don't I'll get 0, the others are okish I could go ooohhhmmmmmmmm today. There was 2 of us meant to be doing it, my friend thought the exam was this afternoon and didn't come in! I'm sure the invigilator fell asleep too ... I started tapping on the desk and coughed, got my calculator out ... nothing, just sat there with his esey shut I didn't have anything to cheat but he didn't know that
PurpleTree
So what sort of questions do you get in a General Studies exam?
Valkyrie
I've turned up late for an exam before - physics! I was taking the O level again and although all the details had been put in the 6th form block, there was another near the Head's office which I assumed was exactly the same. Nope, it started half an hour earlier, and Sister Kathleen the dragon Head ushered me into the hall at the back tutting and almost exploding. How silly of me to think there was a timetable in our block with the same times. I finished before the time too - partly because it was multiple choice and those I knew I had no chance of getting I guessed - then went back to check. I think I did OK because I wrote my name correctly. Ahem. I ended up with E - which I took as being much better than my previous score of H! Thing is I love physics - tinkering with engines and such - I just never remember the formulas. I can't remember dates either - but I can write stories and draw pwetty pikchas. It's all systems go in Ciaran's room - he's been at it since this morning - drilling and hammering. There's a lot of stuff to go to the dump! He's such a happy bunny at long last - more like my boy used to be. And after the grumping last night between them both - also resolved last night - they are bestest friends today as well. Murray even let him use the bestest cordless screwdriver!!!! Oooooooooh!
Lewis
So what sort of questions do you get in a General Studies exam? Well I had to read an artice on 'Sport and Science' *woop* and about how sportsmen now rely on science more and more then answer 30 little qu's about the source, a couple of maths qu's and things like that ... Then you choose one of 3, two-part essay questions, can't remember what 1 was about ; 2 was about smoking and problems it causes with health; 3 (which I did) was about Domestic waste and 'how landfill/incineration is becoming an increasing problem' then how can the government, manufacturers and the public change to improve it. In 2 years I've been to 2 GS lessons They replaced it with Enrichment this year which we though would be really good but everyone just goes home! I'm the same with physics - I can do the practical side and mess with stuff + do electrics (we do a bit with the stagey stuff) but can't do the pointless formula'y stuff ... in real life you'd be able to find the formulas in a book not have to remember one
