jess
I have a cheap woolworths one and it is fine but I am utterly brainwashed to believe that the Bamix is the ultimate. I'm sure someone on the forum has one and can tell you how incredible they are.
Saronne
I've got a Moulinex one (450 watt) and it's excellent for pureeing soups. Saronne x
Saronne
I've just been looking on Amazon and there's a Breville hand blender for 29.31 (50% off) in their kitchen appliances sale. P.S. free delivery, too! Saronne x
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Mine was an Argos basics/value/bottom of the range one and it's fab. There is no need to spend over a tenner on a puree-er-type one.
Mrs Webmuppet
I've got a Tescos blue stripe one and it works just fine.

craftyhunnypie
Funny enough, I'm making soup in a bit & ours is a cheapo thing. Emma.x
Lewis
Another vote for the bamix My uncle has one (used to be a chef) and they love it ... have heard loads of good things about them, they're often on the teleshopping channels
Looney
I have a Braun one that came in a set (the handle also fits a whisk and a processor-type accessory) and it has been brilliant. It has coped with pureeing many a pot of soup and many, many meals for Bogwoppit when I was weaning him. No idea how much it cost, I was given it. My mum has an el cheapo (Lidl I think) stick blender and it works brilliantly. The only downside is that the unit doesn't split for washing, with mine you take the bottom off the handle and it can go in the sink and the handle is wiped down. Not really a big issue though. chickencam
I have a Braun one which we use with processing bowl for making peanut butter, we bought a cheap Tescos one to do this trying to save the motor on the Braun one for other things, but it just couldn't cope with the thick peanut paste. The cheap ones are great for just soups etc, but you need a meatier one for anything thicker. The more expensive ones also tend to easier to clean, because they have been better thought out. chick wiggle
I dont have a stick blender at the moment, I use my processor and blender for everthing at the moment but I am desperately wanting the Bamix but finding it difficult to justify the price Im getting there though! I do actually use the whisk and the herb/spice/nut chopper container too. I like the fact that the bottom bit comes off for cleaning - away from the motor. bluekarin
I have just bought a Phillips one http://www.shopwiki.co.uk/_Philips+HR1372++Hand+Blender+(Black)?o=1008980125&s=498069& for £22 from Sainsburys (bargain ) to replace my old Kenwood which was not very good. So far I am very pleased with it. It has a 600watt motor (old one had 400w) and did a potato and leek soup in less than a minute. It also has a whisk, a grinder, the stick blender and a jug and is a really good, sturdy weight. But as is always the way, when you need tool to do something (like breadcrumbs on Christmas day ) you don't have it, but when you have the tool the need never seems to arise
