Terracata
Later today I will be going to see Avatar 3D! I've been told it's brilliant and a must see but other people have told me it's not their cup of tea. James Cameron's been working on this pretty much since Titanic so I have high hopes My question: Have you seen it? If so how was it? If not would you like to? That was actually three questions... Chickvic
We went to see it on Christmas Eve and it's one of the best films I've seen for ages. We saw it in 3D which was also very good. One of the few films I would actually go to the pictures to see again

Helly Welly
Fantastic film, saw it today. We saw it in 3D but the 3D glasses were excruciatingly uncomfortable. I also found that with some of the background stuff that wasn't in focus i could see the 3D layering. I ended up with a headache which was a shame as it's one of the best films i've seen this year. Chickvic
I must admit I was surprised by the 3D glasses - I thought they were good. We all wear glasses (me, DH, DD and DS) and they were quite comfortable over the top and we never saw any layering. Shame it gave you a headache Helly Welly. Helly Welly
When we've used Real 3D glasses they've been fine but these were big thick glasses that said "xpander" on the side. Don't like them
The Dogmother
Interesting to hear differing opinions - The Boy is hankering to see it, but I haven't heard good reports, so am sceptical.

Cooks
my son and his friend went to see it a few days ago in 3d and they enjoyed it they are 14. Although my sons friend did say it was 'romantic' and rolled his eyes.. but they enjoyed it so hey ho.

Cinnamon
My youngest saw it with her boyfriend, who was seeing it for the second time & she loved it. The eldest is going tomorrow. It doesn't look like my cup of tea really, & its so long too,so I will give it a miss
Lavenders_Blue
DH is dragging me to see this tomorrow. This kind of film is not normally my cup of tea but I'm pleased to hear others have really enjoyed it. Who knows, I might just like it! sandyhas3chucks
I don't think you will be disappointed I went with a friend/mate age 45 a 16 year old girl who only came cos there was nothing better to do & really expected it to be boring and a 14 year old boy. We all thought it was brilliant a really worth seeing in 3D . But Claret it IS also in 2D in some cinemas. Beautiful, really beautiful With a serendipity. My neighbours, 30 somethings loved it too. Would love to go again!
The Dogmother
long you say? I have trouble sitting still through a regular length film... I might just give it a miss, especially as I want to see the Sherlock film.
Helly Welly
We saw Sherlock on Boxing Day, it was really good though i had trouble hearing every word. We were sat very near the front so maybe that was it, or maybe i'm just too used to watching tv with the subtitles on. Both Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr were suitably delicious
Lavenders_Blue
Well I'm back from the cinema and can report that Avatar was absolutely brilliant. Once I'd got over the sea-sickness which I had for the first half an hour or so (presumably whilst my eyes got used to the 3D?) I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't just about the 3D trickery, the story was excellent too and I'd be just as happy to see it in 2D. Yes, it's a long film, but I didn't really notice the time as I was thoroughly immersed in the film. All in all - highly recommended
