The Dogmother
After a promising start, it has been cold and dull here with the odd sprinkling of rain.

Old Speckled Hen
Can I open a "SNOW THREAD"? We've had snow on the tops for a few days now and hubby has been out rescuing in his crampons. Sunny and frosty here this morning. No sign of the forecast rain for two days

Blackrocksrock
We have snow on the top of the "Ben" Ben rinnes which is just in front of our house and it has been sleety rainy and icy and very cold up here. Winter is well on its way.

Janepie33
Thin layer of ice on the girl's water today as I trudged round the garden in my dressing gown and wellies. Had to pour hot water on top to melt ice. Will have to leave early to s"Ooops, word censored!"e ice off the windscreen.

chickencam
Another cold but beautifully sunny day here. There was hard clear bumpy ice on the Eglu this morning, frozen condensation I think. I took pity on the girls last night and shut them in, I only do this when the temperature is due to drop below zero, and they had the cheek to shout at me at 7am when I let them out, they were then all trying to get into the grub at the same time as thought they had been starved. lillybettybabs
Drinkers were frozen this morning so i will have to dig a jiffy bag out, I also need to stop the dogs water bowls from freezing.

Lewis
Tiny bit of frost yesterday + today ...no snow yet. Flatmate from somewhere in Powys has snow at home
The Dogmother
The temp rose 4deg in an hour yesterday evening. Much milder, but windy, dark and wet. The Cherwell is on flood alert, so it looks like they are expecting the torrents from Cornwall to make their way up here
chickencam
It is vile here today. A few degrees warmer according to the thermometer, but no sun to warm the house and it has been raining steadily with strong winds all day. Brrrr and miserable. Old Speckled Hen
I can't get over how dark it's become. Sunrise at a 7.44 and sunset 4.08 Horrid to think that by the winter solstice there will be over an hour less day and the sun won't be up till 8.30 The wind is howling overhead and the chooks have been in bed since 3.30. Blasted cockerel was up and crowing when hubby got up at 6 to go to work. He'll have to make his tea in the dark
The Dogmother
Cold, wet and windy here too, a thoroughly miserable day. At least we haven't been as wet as those poor people in Cornwall though. OSH, my friend specialises in making her morning coffee in the dark and without raising her head above the work surface in the kitchen - if they spot her, a whole chorus starts! The Dogmother
Mild, dull and grey this morning, but no rain as yet. Just as well - the water table is really high again and there's quite a bit of surface water.
