Nutmeg
I saw one of these demonstrated yesterday and it was seriously impressive! Was wondering if anyone owns one and if so, is it worth the expense? (£380 at the demo ) Would be really interested to hear others thoughts. Thanks in advance
Lewis
Have seen these on the tele and at a demo - they're so ! I'd think it depends on how much you'd use it, I think if we had one it would get used quite a lot, and so would be worth the cost
Lesley
I'd not heard of them so went to have a look.... https://vitamix.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=84&Itemid=100 It says it can "Blend, juice, mix and pulp............" - I'm afraid I'd want an all-singing, all-dancing machine for that price..... It may be that I haven't read enough about what it can do.......
Nutmeg
It says it can "Blend, juice, mix and pulp............" - I'm afraid I'd want an all-singing, all-dancing machine for that price..... I agree Lesley, at the demo it made hot soup, ice cream, turned rice into flour, the guy demonstrating was chucking in whole oranges (peeled) etc and it was turning it all to a smooth pulp within seconds! He even threw in a whole Chunky Kit Kat with Baileys to make a delicious smoothie.....at which point I nearly weakened and bought one!! Iwescott, your right about it depending on how much it would be used. I think I would use it a lot aswell. Thanks for your comments and the link. Lesley
Sorry - I was in a hurry earlier....... Does it do everything in the way that a Kenwood does everything? - or is it just for raw food and smoothies? I would rather have a Kenwood if that is the case. Lavenders_Blue
I remember seeing these on QVC... it was so fascinating I actually watched the entire 1 hour Vitamix programme! The guy demonstrating was making hot soups and scrambled egg in it. Basically, if you leave the vitamix on, it generates enough heat to make hot soup from cold, raw veggies and stock. Same goes for the scrambled egg, he just cracked them in raw with a blob of butter and hey presto, out came scrambled egg. He also made ice cream by adding frozen fruits to cream/yoghurt, the blade is so powerful it just blitzed the lot down to a smooth ice cream in seconds. I was mightily impressed and have been coveting once ever since but I just don't think I can justify spending that much money on a blender
Happy chickens!
So Nutmeg are you wanting to buy one to make healthy stuff?? He even threw in a whole Chunky Kit Kat with Baileys to make a delicious smoothie.....at which point I nearly weakened and bought one!! As it does sound like it could lead you into temptation.....! (mmmm sounds yummy though )
Nutmeg
It was very yummy, it had Baileys, Kit Kat, raw cabbage and carrot and it was delicious!!!
craftyhunnypie
I remeber seeing these on the shopping channel. I thought wow! I would use one a lot, but I have no worktop space left for any more gadgets. If it had to be stored in a cupboard, then I'd fear it not getting used. Lewis
At Grand Designs they made the hot soup and scrambled egg Apparently its the blades that create fiction and make it hot, not a heating element or the motor getting hot Then he did the ice cream which was good. They're what Starbucks, Costa and a load of other places use, to make their iced drinks.
