Ques about right to items taken by mistake

Recommended Posts

Hate to be cynical, but I am wondering if they have been broken, she is saying they have been posted but she hasn't done so,so they will be 'lost in the post'

Its just odd that she wants to remain anonymous, and keeps changing her story......

I think you're right Sarah :x

Theft Theft Theft.

And in any case..

S6 Theft act 1968 states

A person appropriating property belonging to another........is nevertheless to be regarded as having the intention to permanently deprive the other of it if his intention is to TREAT THE THING AS HIS OWN TO DISPOSE OF REGARDLESS OF THE OTHER'S RIGHTS.

Report this as a crime to police - you could probably do this online depending on your local force.

If there is a named suspect ( the pool will HAVE to supply the details to police) it is likely to be investigated.

My son's glasses arrived today 1st class packet !

I wonder if it was the phone call from the police yesterday that got them to return them

Came with an anonymous typed nasty note  with yet another story about how they ended up with his glasses and still blaming him ! Seems a bit unnecessary really

Glad they're back - chuck the note in the bin, unfortunately some people can't behave with dignity and grace. She sounds very defensive, don't know what the reason is but it's clearly rattled her cage.

I bet her unfortunate son will never, ever, ever, pick up someone else's glasses again!

Glad you got thge glasses back - but I'd say keep the note, and the dated envelope............she has your address and if she ever decided to write further notes you may need the first one. I can't think that she'd be bothered but you never know.

I was thinking the same - keep the note somewhere safe.

I threw the note away before I checked to see what the omletter advice was  and I rang him to thank him for his help straight away and got put through to his voicemail so left a message thanking him.

Having logged a police report though to get them back if there are any further problems at least there is a record.
