Wife frightened by blue eggs

Recommended Posts

My OH has been taking surplus eggs to work and everyone who has bought them has enjoyed them and think they are delicious.

Today, however, one of his colleagues said he'd take another 6 eggs next week - but only the brown ones - no blue ones - as the blue ones 'freaked out' his wife.

Silly, or what?

My friend buys half a dozen off me every week. One week her MIL came down and said that it was "child abuse" to feed her children blue and green eggs  That there was obviously something wrong with my chickens :shameonu:

Her next visit, she wanted something to eat, so my friend offered her a poached egg on toast, she asked were they the "weird eggs" or shop bought. My friend honestly answered that they were not "weird eggs" and poached her a blue shelled one

The MIL ate the egg, and announced how it was the nicest poached egg she had ever had  My friend then showed her the shell

Now, the MIL wants to buy eggs off me, and my friend has told her that she can't as she doesn't deserve them

Me too! When we finally have enough money to have some spare for a wir :pray: I can't decide whether to get hens that lay !egggreen!!eggblue! or more ex bats

When we finally build our WIR and use the cube I am going to go for some hens that lay !egggreen! or !eggblue! eggs, in the longer term I would love some ex bats.

A friend at work was concerned that the egg (yolk) would be blue

When my CLB first started laying I was asked that alot but after explaining that they the eggs are perfectly fine and are exactly the same as the 'normal' brown eggs everyone seems happy to have them now. I personally love the blue eggs, they are just a little different!! I've recently started to sell my surplus eggs and worried abit about what people would think whe i put blue eggs in but they have been coming back and asking for lots more!!

Yes, generally everyone thinks the blue ones are really pretty and I get lots of questions, e.g. 'have you dyed them?' ( :wall: ) 'are they duck eggs?' 'will they taste different?' etc.

Only been the one person who's actually been frightened of them!:lol:
