Smiler33
Today, for the first time ever, I picked Betsy up ! I was getting rid of stones in the garden and my very willing 'helper' was with me, looking for any worms / bugs I may reveal. I had my gardening gloves on and I just thought why not - so I leant forward, held onto her (she did the crouching position laying hens do) and just held and stroked her. It was lovely!!! The others aren't as friendly as our little brown hen, but I'm hoping they'll come around. Mabel and Peckish are both a bit hyper, so won't be able to do anything to them for a while - slow and steady wins the race though doesn't it! We'll try getting them out of the nest box hole over the weekend when they've settled for the night.
chickenopolis
Well done you I must admit our girls don't like being picked up that much, but when you do, it is lovely. I always "smell" my girls when I pick them up - don't know why, they just smell of hay - but it's nice.

Smiler33
I'm on a roll now - fed Betsy from my hand - and didn't even have my gloves on!!!!!! They've had a lovely time in the front garden pecking around whilst I cleaned the Cube and did some work out in the garden; probably been out for over 3 hours. I got them all back into the Cube with some corn for bribery as we're going out soon, but when we get back I'll release them all. I'm so pleased with how brave I've got in just 2 weeks and so is DH!
