Died of a drug overdose this morning in LA.

 

He was 38.

 

I thought he was a fantastic talent in such films as the Lost Boys and Licensed to Drive.

 

Had been battling with drugs for over a decade.

I only just watched Lost Boys the other day - love that film (especially Jason Patric )

 

Thought he was younger than 38. Another poor soul gone too young.

I can't bring myself to gush about people who have abused themselves with alcohol, dubious pursuits and drugs when i have watched someone die of cancer over a horrendous 8 months who did nothing to bring it on themselves

I can't bring myself to gush about people who have abused themselves with alcohol, dubious pursuits and drugs when i have watched someone die of cancer over a horrendous 8 months who did nothing to bring it on themselves

He may have brought it on himself, but alcohol and drug addictions can also be illnesses. OK I know not in the same league as cancer (which is a tragic illness - I work in Palliative Care) but still sad for anyone to be gone so young.

In my humble opinion, any life lost,for whatever reason is a tragedy.

He leaves friends,family & loved ones who will be grieving as much as if he had died in another way.

maybe it is but when you've watched somoene die in agony over a prolonged period from an illness they had absolutely no control over, it's hard to feel any sympathy for anyone who abuses themself in such a way.

I too had to google this guy - theres been a lot of possible drug related deaths amongst celelbs recently esp in USA. Its very sad. I have to say although i'm not a fan its good to see Daniella Westbrook recovered and enjoying her life after her cocaine habit of the 1990's. So sad

I'm quite surprised by the outpouring for Corey. I only remember him being in The Lost Boys. Must have been a formative crush figure for a lot of people. It was such a cheeseball film. I love that era for popcorn films.

 

It seems to be too prevalent that child stars mess their lives up because they can't deal with the pressures of young fame. We should not forget that they got involved in the industry at an innocent age and could have had no idea of the psychological effects it would have on them. They are in many ways innocent and it is very sad.
