Lesley
Our chicks are due to hatch this weekend - nothing happening last night but we woke to find a lovely Light Sussex chick, just out of the egg, and another one pipping. We kept forgetting to candle until we decided it was too late and we would wait to see what happened....and 6 of them are really dark Welsummer eggs and they're difficult to tell anyway....so we have no idea how many may hatch. Lesley
We had another LS hatch last evening and another by this morning - at least those 3 will have covered the cost of the eggs and electricity if nothing further happens.........no signs of any pipping on the others yet. The brooder is set up but three chicks will be a bit lost in it - I'll have to find a chicken mummy.....I've got a good old-fashioned mop head somewhere
