MedusA
Yesterday morning when I went out to see to the girls, two of them weren't bussling about, so I assumed that they were both in the nestbox. Squib was, but Toffee, my little Suffolk Blacktail hybrid wasn't. I found her cold, lifeless body in the cube! She hadn't shown any sign of being unwell, in fact she had seemed about to come back into lay after several months off (she'd had a massive moult in December/January). I can only assume she had either a stroke or a heart attack during the night. Any other reason why an apparantly healthy hen should suddenly die? I've had her for about two and a half years from POL, so she wasn't even 3 years old yet. I am still in shock and it hasn't really sunk in yet. The only consolation is that at least she didn't suffer a slow decline. RIP my lovely girl.

Chucky1
I'm sorry too. Sorry for you but I'm also finding it quite easy to empathise as she looks just like our own Dilly. Hope you feel better soon.
Rosey Supposey
This so sad, I'm so sorry that Toffee was called away so soon. The consolation is that she didn't suffer, but that doesn't lessen the shock of losing her. ~big hug~
