ladyjulian
Went out earlier to let the ladies have a runaround and to change their bedding, and sure enough, the blue sky and sunshine vanished and we got a thunderstorm. Although they have a nice dry run with tempting cabbagey goodness and stuff to hide under, all four of them decided it would be way more fun to stay outside in the heaving rain, so resisted my efforts to get them back inside. And they don't seem to mind being wet. I'm assuming it won't do them any harm, but I thought chickens weren't meant to like water, hence the expression 'crosser than a wet hen'! If mine are an exception, maybe I'll get them some swimming lessons.
Eggasperated
My Black Rocks love the rain and wouldn't dream of going in if there is a chance of a big fat juicy worm making its way to the surface of the garden.
Griffin
My ex-batts love rain
ladyjulian
Eggsasperated - hadn't thought of that. They do like a gourmet worm, so that would explain it. Group outing?
Griffin
Yep, the ex-batts would be up for that
beulah59
My ex-batts used to be happy in the rain until we had the Light Sussex who dive for cover at the first drop ... now they all hide away if it's even a bit moist
mostin
I find that my older sensible ladies take shelter after a while, but the young'uns and the ex-batt stay out untill they are well and truly soggy. They just can't resit wrecking my lawn in the wet, and getting all those juicy worms
whoopsie
my two seem to love the rain! They look like wet dishmops afterwards!
Chook n Boo Mum
Eggsasperated - hadn't thought of that. They do like a gourmet worm, so that would explain it. Group outing? My 3 labs love their swimming "lessons" ......not so sure the chooks would like so much "solid" water though ........mind you if there was a bucket of juicy worms on offer.......... Annaspannabanana
Our 3 chucks love the rain purely because they get to eat lots of juicy worms. They were out in the rain at 10pm the other night!! Stupid chucks
Valkyrie
The silkie loves the rain. She then goes "punk" style hair do and we have to dry her with the hair dryer. She just loves the dryer and will lean and stretch out under it. I swear she gets wet just for the fuss!
JanTheDiver
My RIR's love the rain. The others like light rain, but once it starts getting heavy they run inside
Valkyrie
They certainly don't like snow - especially when it goes on for days and weeks! Come to think of it - neither do I (now).
