I'm fed up of IE8; Firefox is great but if I switch it off, it won't come on again - I can keep clicking but nothing happens, then 20 windows open at once Are any of the others any better?

I use firefox and dont have a problem on vista on this machine - I also changed to that at work and dont have issues there -sorry cannot think but hated IE

I find Firefox works well for me (apart from a spell when it crashed regularly but the recent update seems to have fixed that ).

 

I know some forum members have recently downloaded Google Chrome recently. I tried it and although it was OK, there were a couple of things I preferred about Firefox.

After having loads of problems with Firefox (which I loved) I now use Google Chrome. I've had a few problems with forms like paying on ebay and filling out a form for freebies, but I just use Explorer for them. I tried a few others before settling on Chrome (Opera and another one which I can't remember now) and I didn't really like Chrome to start with, but I love it now. Hope that helps

I've just changed to google chrome too, as firefox has been a nightmare for me recently, I love all the extensions i can get for chrome

There are loads of browsers out there to try:

Google Chrome

Safari

Opera

Sea Monkey

K-Melon

Flock

Konqueror

 

I would try K-Melon and Safari out. See how you like them. Make sure you uninstall Firefox

I've only just moved to Firefox, and I love it - much better than Explorer. I did have one occasion when it did that thing of opening 20 windows, but I closed down and restarted and it's never done it since.

 

I didn't realise there were so many options.

I will say I didn't uninstall Firefox when I installed Chrome. I can't say this has caused me any problems. It also means if I have a problem with Chrome like I mentioned before, I have the option of briefly using another browser.

Were you opting to save all the tabs on closing FF?

 

If you have any future problems like this in FF, you might want to have a look at running it in safe mode, to start it up:

Some problems can be caused by extra add-ons too. Having said that I'd never consider anything other than FF as my preferred browser simply because some of those add-ons are priceless.

Chrome currently has less security holes than ff too.

 

btw - when I had firefox I changed the icon name on my desktop to firechicken. Firefox indeed. Grrrr to any kind of fox!
