Raina
Well.... My mum had done her weekly online shop with Asda yesterday and today she got a phone call to say it had been canceled She went up the bank to find out why and they started to ask her lots of Questions. After all the Questions they gave her the phone and the person on the other side was a Fraud something and he started to ask her lots of Q's after all that they had said that her card had been cloned but luckily no money had been successfully taken out. The bank have now taken my mum's card and are going to destroy it!! I'm not sure how this could have happened as we ALWAYS check the slots where are cards go in

Raina
Yes Very! My mum just said that she'll get a new card within 5 - 7 days
LisaP
Very glad your Mum hasn't lost any money - it happened to me last June and it is very annoying My bank contacted me as they had picked up on some "out of character" payments - which they paid back. I had to have a new card of course and the most irritating part is waiting for it, because you don't realise how much you depend on it until it's not there Hope your Mum gets her card soon. Chucky Mama
Has she let someone take it out of her sight for payment in a Cafe or something. I think that this is how our first card (yes I did say 1st, we have had details taken 3 times now ) was cloned.
batcatz
eek, it's very scary when that happens. I'm still waiting for some money to be repaid as my card was cloned in September and the bank didn't pick it up.
Raina
Nope it's never been out of her sight. Just really puzzled as to how it was cloned
Charlottechicken
Oh my word, scary stuff So glad that your mum hasn't lost any money Raina. Has she used any cashpoints at petrol stations or ones outside banks? Or used her card to buy petrol at a pump? Or for online purchases? Can the bank pinpoint when it happened? Must admit to being a creature of habit and take spending money out from inside the same bank on first working day of the month. It makes it easier for me to check withdrawals on my statements. theherd123
Did she make any over the phone payments? Unfortunately a card of ours got cloned this way
Raina
I think i know what's happened! A couple of weeks ago we ordered a take-away online but it never arrived (it was closed) so we rang up the place for a refund and they said they will give us one but asked for some details first but we never got a refund? I'll go and let my mum know
jlo
Mine was done last year and it seems to be when I used it at a petrol station. It was at the kiosk - not at the pump! Hope it all gets sorted soon as it is a pain. I particularly didn't like it when I was phoned up and asked if I had used the card in Sydney!!...in my dreams
ubereglu
At least you've been prompt with it and you know what's happened and have got the problem sorted. Cards being cloned happens every so often where my Dad works. Their office gets phoned, 'Are you in Sydney?' or wherever, as x amount of money has been withdrawn from your account-ok, you're not, we'll send you out a new card...It seems standard procedure now! Seagazer
It is such a pain. Its happened to us a few times now The banks are pretty good at sorting it all out though.
