Cinnamon Posted April 16, 2010 Share Posted April 16, 2010 I love my solar fairy lights - I have several strings of them on shrubs & trees in the garden & they all look wonderful when they light up at dusk. BUT, 2 sets on my favourite tree which no longer work & they are really wrapped around it perfectly,so I thought I would whip the battery out & replace it (I got them on eBay,so probably not a good quality battery). However the battery is sort of welded in - so you need to buy a new set each time I guess I wondered if anyone had a better quality set where you can replace the battery as & when it needs it? Joojoo Posted April 16, 2010 Share Posted April 16, 2010 I bought what looked a lovely 20m set from B&Q on Wednesday for £30. Got them home and the on/off button was depressed and I couldn't release it so it's stuck in the "on" position. I thought that it wouldn't really matter and would be ok and set them up but I'm waiting until tonight which will be after two full days of gorgeous sun to see if they actually work cos they definitely weren't last night! If they still don't come on tonight they will be going back in the morning. I hadn't thought of ebay Forgot to say that the battery in them IS replaceable. Cinnamon Posted April 16, 2010 Author Share Posted April 16, 2010 Happily Hubby has said that he can get the old battery out,do something clever with the welder & we can replace it for a new battery. Each set has cost me £15,so I am glad that I don't need to buy a whole new set, also it would never have been strung around the trunk & branches of the tree as perfectly as it is now I would recommend them for any garden if you like that sort of thing Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They had them on a half price offer, so that meant I got 2 lots of 20 lights for £14.99, which I didnt think was too bad. I rushed home and put them up around the garden and I was pretty pleased with the result last night. You can set them as a static light or flashing. We have lights in the garden anyway but needed some for the trees. Apart from the fact that there wasn't nearly enough of them, they looked absolutely gorgeous OH even liked them and said we'd have to get a bigger set.
