Kitchenaid Mixer.

Recommended Posts

We've just bought a brand new 'Kitchenaid Artisan Mixer' off ebay for......... wait for it £280.00 or €324.00. Eileens well chuffed with it, the Kenwood Chef gave up the ghost after a very long and illustrious life 32 years...... :boohoo:

edit: That included P&P 'Airsure'. :D

Which pasta attachment do you have? I have the plates which fit on my grinder attachment and I'm having mixed success with it. I think it may be down to the pasta recipe and that the 'drier' the pasta dough the better. I have managed to make pasta that really tasted great but it was a nightmare to cook because it all stuck together. I'm quite keen to try the roller pasta machine for my wonton wrappers!

Congratulations on the imminent arrival of your machines, I'm sure you'll have a great time experimenting with them! What colour did you buy?

I've got the heavy metal one (there are three in the box). One rolls it into sheets, the other makes tagliatelle, and the third makes linguine (I think  ).

Are the Kitchen Aid mixers suitable for kneading dough like the Kenwood ones? Actually, mentioning the old Kenwood, any one know if the new ones are as sturdy as the old ones? Mine was a charity shop bargin for £15 a couple of years ago and its starting to groan. But it is getting on. And we all groan with aches and pains when we are getting on a bit :lol:

The jury seems to out on whether or not modern Kenwoods are as sturdy as the old ones. When we bought our Kenwood Major a couple of years ago from a local Kenwood agent who also does repairs, he said that they had gone through a cheaper phase about 5 years before but were now much better again. He would say that though wouldn't he.

Having said that I have used mine to mix up 2 large batches of bread dough about three times a week for two years to no ill effect so far ....finds some wood to touch....

Have you thought of getting it serviced? I've had mine done twice and it runs sweetly.

The dough I mixed with the kitchen aid was the best batch I've ever made! It rose twice as much as the loaf I made the week before with the old mixer and the kitchenaid took about 1 min to clean as opposed to the 20 mins it took me to try and clean the dough off the old one!

I'm in love!

I made the Hugh F-W pizza recipe with the roasted tomato sauce and it worked really well. My husband who only likes Pizza Express pizza thought it was great. I think the Kitchenaid is fab for dough although I'm currently having success with No Knead bread!

I've just made double the recipe amount as it doesn't look enough. It will be interesting to see how it comes out. Yum I can't wait. :D

Well it was delicious although I wouldn't make double again and I would roll it out thinner as it was a bit thick for my liking. OH and I loved making our own pizzas but YS prefers Dominos as it comes with ice cream and a bottle of fizzy drink

Karin,, I had it serviced by a small local electrical domestic appliance contractor, it cost me £30 and they added a new power flex as well as servicing and replacing a gammy gear.

Thats not too bad - much better than replacing. I shall investigate round here for a repair person. Thanks Clare :D
