Alis girls
My 9 yr olds teacher gives lines on a regular basis. i will admit shes not had it easy as she had a very disruptive child in class (see previous post) who we think has been expelled or left. This will make you smile - yesterday a child in L's class swore - he was sent for the "chat" with deputy had. So my little darling pipes up " Miss - my mum swore once in the car" - hes now got lines - why for caling out. So this will get round staff room that Mrs K swears in the car. Yup i do at other drivers. Not sure what he will be writing "My mum should not swear" That will teach him to keep his trap shut and our family secrets safe
jlo
Personally, I think that the fact that you swore "once" in the car is pretty commendable!
clootie
Eh? The lines are for you to be done at home. I would never swear in the car at other drivers.

chickencam
Children must learn that they should keep family secrets. My husband has just discovered the Outnumbered TV series and has bought the DVD set of series 1&2 I find it all a bit too close to home. My ED (16) and pretty saintly for a 16 year old was having a private conversation with me in the changing rooms at out local health club a couple of weeks ago about how 'annoyed' she was that her overweight smoking mid 40's dad can still beat her everytime at badminton. There was one other person in there at the time who we had not really noticed. This woman proceeded to lay into my daughter about her bad language (which was one phrase and pretty mild and born out of frustration) and into me for allowing her to offend others. I was livid, but didn't allow myself to be drawn into an arguement. My daughter incidently imediately apologised when she realised that we were not alone. Couperwife
My 9 yr olds teacher gives lines on a regular basis. erm, I am a teacher (yep, honest )and we arent allowed to give children lines to do apparently its "not conducive to learning" everything that a child does in school is supposed to help that child learn in some way shape or form, and lines done to that. I would ask what the lines are doing to benefit the child ok, teacher head well and truly off - due to the fact that it is Friday night and nearly 6pm cathy x
SarahJo
Oh dear - good lad, shows you have told him not to LIE - far worse in my book I have personally given my boys lines to do - in a last minute attempt to learn spellings as well as a punishment, but only ever once I might add Yesterday 2 year 11s were singing along to a song on the radio, they discreetly replaced the "bad" words - but to be fair my 8 and 10 yr old would just sing them. I am amazed how much more bad language is "aired" and spoken, compared to when I was my boy's age

I am amazed how much more bad language is "aired" and spoken, compared to when I was my boy's age I'll agree with you on that - try explaining Kings of Leon lyrics to a 7 and 4 year old in the car on the way to school. Swearing in chart songs is SO prevalent but it does give rise to awkward questinos, I come up with some inventive answers sometimes and have to tell my 9 year old not to "educate" my son with what the older kids have explained to her! Personally I think lines are good, but then I like "old fashioned" teaching methods - maybe because I'm old!! BeckyBoo

My friends six year old son sings "My Sax is on fire", his Dad told him it was Sax as in Saxophone, his Dad is a Music Teacher
Alis girls
Alas I was treated to the rest of what he said " she said bleep bleep to this woman" - meaning me. I hang my head in shame - no doubt the teacher thinks I am a right fish wife. But I do know one of the other teachers swears in the car - her son told me
