I have my ears pierced twice on the lobes. First set of holes when I was 12, done at the local hair salon. The second time was a year later when I was on holiday in Blackpool with a friend and her family. We went out for a bag of chips and came back with our ears pierced.

 

Had my belly button pierced when I was 39. I was out shopping for wool and popped a few doors to the piercing place on a whim.

My youngest daughter had her nose pierced this week and is having her tragus done at the end of the summer hols.Let us know how you get on

I have ear lobes done and 2 at the the top of the same ear. Would love to get my tragus done but I think you have to have it done with a needle.

No point in getting belly button done, I would never see it.

I am afraid I totally bottled it today.

 

In my defence,I am feeling 'coldy' so want to wait until I am 100%, & the shop was full of loud teens screaming & squawking over what they had & are having done

It just didn't feel right for me today.....

 

My eldest has her ear cartilage done & it looks good,but they put a ring in it instead of a little stud,by mistake

They can't change it for 2 weeks

Just hope work don't spot it or she could have a problem.

I feel like a real innocent here - but I have finally decided to get my ear lobes pierced. Apparently it was part of the deal for me "allowing" my sons to have theirs done! Not sure how they that worked out.... They are both over 16, but as Dad is so anti-piercing, they said they wanted to have it done with our approval, rather than just doing it!

 

Anyway - back to me - the problem is, I have no idea where to go. At the age of.... you really don't want to know ... there is no way I am sitting in the window of Claires, but the tattoo and piercing place they went to doesn't appeal either. When my sister got hers done 40 years ago, jewellers used to do it!!!

 

Where do mature ladies go to get their ears pierced???

I had mine done in a ladies hairdressers when I was 14, so maybe that would be better for you. I agree though, I wouldn't want mine done in the window of any shop. Why do they do that?

They do it at the back of my chemist, subtlety for older ladies lol

Look in chemist windows its usually advertised on the door!

I was going to say chemist, too - and I completely understand why you wouldn't want to sit in Claire's Accessories! However you might be pleasantly surprised by the tattoo/piercing place, they look a bit scary but in my experience the people inside are usually very nice.

Never thought of the chemists - I'll have a look at our local ones.

I could try the tattoo place, if I can get son or son's gf to come with me.. however, I think they only have one person piercing, and somebody advised that it is a good idea to get both ears done together, at the same time, (yes, I'm a complete wimp!)

I had mine done at 40 in our local House of Fraser store, I would have thought, big department stores with beauty departments, or hairdresser with beauty salons attatched.

My daughter had her's done at a hairdresser/beauty parlour ... I think many of them do them, as did my beauty therapist (waxing lady..ouch!!)

 

Re piercings I loved Billy Connolly talking about having a piercing done and the man doing it saying..."one less of them, one more of us" afterwards...

 

I have my ears pierced twice (although I tend only to wear one pair of earrings) and I also have a third piercing at the top of my right earlobe..which I haven't used for years..although the older I get the more attractive the idea is of using it again....

I'm going to ask at my hairdressers next week - I am pretty sure they don't do it, but they might have suggestions. I like the beauty salon approach ...

I've bought 2 pairs of earrings this week, so I have to have it done!

get them done with a needle not a gun. Far more hygienic and less likely to have problems

the girls working at my hairdressers seem to have a competition going for the number of piercings and tattoos - never really appealed to me, but some of them look nice.

Do they still do ear lobes with needles? I thought everyone used a gun now?

Oh dear - sounds like I have another decision to make! Not only where to get it done, but how!

The piercing shop my sons went to seems to do lobes with a gun and other places with a needle. They have had no problems, though the 17yo's ear has taken much longer to heal, probably because he kept taking the stud out because it was "too tight"....

Son's gf had the upper part of her ear pierced twice (needle) on the same day but ended up taking both out because they were painful.
