Mollie333
Hi Chicky, I went to Africa. Very nice, but i couldn't say i slept rough, like you would imagine . I stayed in a very very nice hotel. It was so relaxing, and educational, the markets were.. shocking, dead and alive animals hanging, i guess its a third world country, though. And the people was in such poor conditions at one place we went to that i couldn't go back. They was begging for food aswell. but you have to be careful, because they are unfortunately some scam artists! overall was a good holiday! Treekeeper
We went and stayed in a shed on Scoraig in the Highlands of Scotland, then on to a boutique B&B then on to a 5 star hotel the full spectrum, weather was good and we enjoyed ourselves as we usually do in Scotland, saw ospreys Golden eagles, and red deer Magic! Seagazer
We had 4 days on a boat with YS and Cookie on the Cambridgeshire waterways, it was ok but not very comfortable. OH and I going by motorbike to Lake Garda in 3 weeks time to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It will take us 3 days to get there, we have 5 days at Lake Garda and then 3 days back. Really looking forward to it (think I might book in some massages for when I get back)
Millihelen
Off to Scotland on Saturday for our annual "fix" of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival! Something that we enjoy and so do our 16/17 yos. Accommodation is very expensive during the festival, so we are only in Edinburgh for 3 nights, but that is really enough. We have booked lots of shows inc; Sean Hughes, Laura Solon, Lee Nelson - and really looking forward to Emo Phillips. Last year we didn't plan ahead enough and a lot of shows were sold out, also it poured with rain most of the time so there weren't many free open air shows around the Royal Mile. So this year we have at least planned our evenings.

chelsea
No main holiday this year - just camping/caravanning. We've been away nearly every weekend and are booked up every weekend till October! Next year we're doing the Outer Hebrides and Highlands in a motorhome for 3 weeks.

HappyhenSG
We're taking the camper van to Combe Martin this weekend for a few days - not sure we can manage much more than that with 2 sprogs
PapaJuliet
We've just got back from 2 1/2 weeks in Canada. OH and I always arrange out holidays around motor sports events... marshalling if we can. We went to Toronto & Edmonton for the IndyCar races on successive weekends with a few extra days sight seeing in Toronto. If anybody watched the race, I was at turn 3 at the end of the main long straight. We had Takuma Sato's accident which brought out the first full course yellow then further big accidents on the next 2(?) restarts. If you look carefully you can see me running away from the barrier each time a car comes in (even though those are HUGE concrete blocks they still move when a car hits them). After the Edmonton race we drove to Vancouver over 2 days through the Canadian Rockies with a friend who'd also been at the race. Very spectacular scenery and we even saw an elk and a bear and various other wild life. We stayed with our friend for the rest of the week, sightseeing round Vancouver. It was a spectacular holiday. Seagazer
We're taking the camper van to Combe Martin this weekend for a few days - not sure we can manage much more than that with 2 sprogs Ahhh! Combe Martin, my uncle and aunt used to live there. So did my nan for a few years. We always go back when we do our Devon holiday in October. The kids love crabbing in the rock pools. My parents used to have a static caravan in nearby Berrynarbour. You'll have a lovely time. Papajuliet - YS has decided that he wants to go to Canada next year for our summer holiday seeing as we're shortchanging him this year (we're going away, alone, together with no kids) Your holiday sounds just up my hubby's street
Aimee
Just back from three weeks in California travelling between San Francisco and LA. Great time - fabulous scenery and lots of things to keep a 12 year old interested. Shame the food was pretty good too - have come home 7lb heavier Now it's just the jeg lag to contend with but after the advice I received from forum members when I flew out, I think it'll be gone much quicker this time. Not much else planned for the rest of this year, just Germany to visit the in-laws in October although I'm not sure I'd describe it as a holiday
the bradley bunch
me & hubby went to taba heights in egypt last month we got engaged in egpyt a few years back... we kind of have a romance going on with the country we love snorkelling and the red sea is great because you can just float in it with absoloutely no effort because the salt content is so high, so it's perfect for me who struggles for energy because of health problems. it was the best holiday ever, and on the last day...after 7 days of praying (not counting the nights leading up to the holiday!), i was finally gifted with the sighting of an endangered olive ridley turtle swimming amongst some sea grass on the floor of the reef it was the best day of my life! we're already planning our return to egypt next year
Happy chickens!
Shouldn't have read this thread, making me very No holiday this year - OH took a sabbatical from work which ended as the kids' holidays started. We were going to do weekends away with our canoe/windsurf but YS fell off bike on first day of hols, gouged hole in arm and has had to keep it dry ever since. Hopefully tomorrow the nurse will finally sign him off and we can throw him in the sea! Mmm also need some decent weather. I'm not really fed up though, it's nice to take the holidays at a slow pace and enjoy the simpler things in life.
freddie
did i see the windsurf word???? We've just got back from the s of france, from the techno windsurf worlds event. Lovely, but a hell of a long drive!!! Campsite was fantastic, and friendly, weather was good, wind a bit too strong tho', a mistral blew through and ruined the racing! Has anyone heard of france passion.com ? I hadnt , and wished i had! worth a look up. Ys did ok, and is still going to cost a fortune with the windsurfing, BUT we are not going to USA next yr, as that is totally too much £. Farmoor lake, nr Oxford for the next comp(that wont be the same as France, methinks!!)
meezers
We went to Mexico - Yucatan Peninsula, back at easter. We stayed in 4 different places, swam with sea turtles, played with monkeys at a sanctuary and snorkeled with scores of brightly coloured fish. Had a fantastic time, but it's the first time we've been on holiday so early in the year and it's horrible not having a holiday to look forward to now. Not far away from home (still an hour and a half) but just close enough if it all goes belly up. Better get buying camping gear now. That'll be hard, shopping
