Pics Oops! I have a theory ..

Recommended Posts

about posts when people are getting new chickens: people new to chickens always post before, people who have chickens already only tell you when they are home with them. My theory is that we feel we need to sneak them in before anyone call tell us what we already know - WE HAVE ENOUGH CHICKENS :lol::oops:

You could be on to something there Scarlet.

As for having enough hens Bramble I think the numbers of eggs is beginning to tell me I may have enough.

This week my Mum, Mother-in-Law and sister-in-law have all gone on holiday. That's left me with 5 eggs per day - and no one to share them with. On top of that I'm also looking after a neighbours hens and I got 9 off them yesterday!!!

I think a small stall at the local pre-school gates may be required.

I found out yesterday that the organic farm I get my veg box from is selling ex laying Lincolnshire Buff hens for £5 each. Now I was quite happy with my 4 ex batts until I acquired Lottie my COF. This seems to have sparked some chemical change in my brain and suddenly I have to have some of these Lincolnshire Buff hens.

DH says no

You are sooo right, when I got in with mine newly acquired (3 7 week only pekins) my OH laughed and rolled his eyes, bless him though he did say " you know my thoughts on these things, life is too short!" what a sweetie. Although he doesnt realise this means he has given me cart blanche to increase my flock!!!!! (ps I only went to get 1 more)

Yes one is a chocolate orp bantam and the other a choc pekin. I got them from the same lady as my last two pekins and they weren't silly money as she is giving up and wants them to go to nice homes - would've been rude to say no  . The pekin is missing a few leg feathers as she had a splayed foot and the plaster pulled them off :D However she did have a choc cockeral which she said will be expensive to buy
