marriages flubenvet layers pellets.

Hang on before you all get too excited! It sounds great if you have lots of chickens but 20kg of medicated feed is an awful lot to get through bearing in mind that you only need to feed it for a week every 3-4 months. You would probably only use about 2-3kg of it per 3-4 chickens every 3-4 months. You shouldn't be feeding it all the time. As it is a controlled medication you cannot legally split it or sell any yourself.

It's a good idea if you don't want to mix it up yourself but I have to agree that unless you have a lot of hens you could end up throwing some away. I wormed my 4 ex batts last week and gave them only the pellets mixed with the Flubenvet. Mine have what I think are fairly good appetites and they went through just under 3Kg in that week.

I have estimated 6kg use for a course (6 hens) and the lady I spoke to at the company said it can be easily stored in a metal bin, it was £17.50 delivered- alot more than normal pellets plus flubenvet I know, but also- for me anyway........a huge amount easier than measuring and mixing.

But if you only use it twice a year then that only comes to 12kg. So you'll have a spare 8kg. Also most food should only be stored for a few months before it goes out of date.

There's usually about a 3 month use by date on feed.

I wouldn't use food beyond 3 months, particularly is it is medicated. Extremes of heat and cold can affect most medications.

I tub of Flubenvet costs approx £14 and will medicated £20 kg of food so there is not a huge amount of difference in price. I think the premixed is better for larger flocks. The possibility of a 10kg bag though would be great for those who don't get on with mixing Flub into food themselves :)

I've just ordered a bag as I've far too much going on at the moment to faff around mixing flub and layers together. Just cross with myself as I meant to order some when I saw this post. Didn't and have found a worm in poo tonight when I was cleaning out the cube poo trays.
