Baby - new pics

Recommended Posts

And the fourth is even easier than that  Seeing as though Georgia arrived after a 45 minute labour at home, and just five minutes after the midwife arrived, she said to Mr Griffin that in the event of a fifth baby coming along then he would be given a quick training session in how to help me next time because the chances were that it'd be even quicker than 45 minutes and there's no way a midwife could get to us in time  I've no idea if that frightening thought had any bearing on his decision to have a vasectomy  Knowing how fast Georgia was coming I had a good idea that I was probably going to do it all myself anyway and I wasn't in the slightest bit worried! He on the otherhand was an odd shade of green

Both my deliveries were 'silent labours' - on my first, I was taken to hospital by my other half as soon as my waters broke (he is very squeamish) and even with no contractions they found that I was fully dilated. I desparately wanted a home birth for my second but was completely vetoed by OH. I made it into the delivery suite with 30 seconds to spare! The only signs I had was my waters breaking.

well that's my idea of a fantastic labour!

Been another reasonable day today, took the young man to the playbarn for an energy-releasing fun session, then showed baby off at work. A ward full of coo-ing nurses was enough to leave hubby quite overwhelmed! Then went boring grocery shopping, but it was a necessary evil, we were out of cat food, cereal, paracetamols and decaff beverages. Had a couple of stresses, number 1 being that the lil lady hadnt done a poo for 24 hours (that problem has sorted itself now  ), 2 my milk came in so well that she couldn't get latched on so it's been fun re-aquainting myself with milk expressing, and 3 - well there's unmentionable things happening to my unmentionables. telephone consult with my gp has calmed me down a bit about that though, and will have to wait and see what happens.

Missus is just starting up with the wind troubles now again poor thing... just in time to drown Nigella out!! poor little thing xx

Hope the wind problem calms down, what have you been eating?!

I have no idea, I've beenracking my brains too to think of anything that might be not helping, but I've been on a fairly bland diet especially to give her a good start in the whole land of breastfeeding! I had cheese today on a toasty then on pizza, but not the other days and she's been just as bad?!

Her cousin has such bad colic too, he's 2 weeks now and my SIL has had to get special help in the form of an anti-colic baby massage specialist and also gave up natural feeding as she was so stressed... I wonder if it just has something to do with Raven's paternal genes? The family might just produce windy babies!

Hubby is a star, I spent the evening feeding as being so full, she's barely taking anything at a single feed just a few mouthfuls and then falling off and refusing any more. So that is not helping with the windypops either! He took her off me just after midnight to go wind her in the lounge - and I just woke up and wondered where they are, she's fast asleep in a cushion-lined couch nest with him sat on the floor on the computer playing games!

So shifts have swapped and it's my turn now, I'm going to try to sneak the couch off her and use the moses basket instead (haha wish me luck :D ) as it's no fun sitting on the floor when you feel like someone's had a car crash on your chest and you gave birth 72 hours ago! :eh:

Baby massage is good if you can see if your midwife can help there. If with 2 fingers you circle belly button gently as she so tiny or one finger CLOCK WISE (way of colon) a little massage oil helps too she should f :silenced: t it out  It worked a treat with mine - i used to take him on a bumpy ride in the pram as that helped too (cobbles are good) but not in the small hours. It is exhausting went thro hell with 1st - second I had much more idea good luck

Not sure Mog would have come out any other way really even if I had been at home, I had been pushing for over four hours and she wasn't any further out and she'd had a big old poop. Poor thing spent the first twelve hours in SCBU being hoovered out after inhaling all the meconium :( And then the next 48 having IV antibiotics so she was covered in bruises. My placenta is in a super place this time, so hopefully newbaby won't go back to back with her head twisted round unlike his awkward sister.

Cally, have you got a vibrating bouncy chair? They work absolute wonders for windy babies - we were given ours, but you can pick them up extremely cheaply, even new. Argos have one for £22 and they're always in the paper or in charity shops. If you were any closer I'd drop off ours (it's pink of course  ), sometimes it was the only way we could get her to sleep and it was great after feeds.

I do have a vibrating bouncer, I bought a plain one and my friend has loaned me tons of baby equipment (including a fancy swinging jungle chair that I would never have dreamed of splashing out on and a silver cross pram!!) among the goodies she gave us is a bouncy vibrating blue chair. I wasn;t going to use it as I like the looks of my non-battery powered one better and my son never liked the vibrate on - but I can see how the movement would help - I'll set it up for tonight!!

In the end baby wasn;t too bad last night, we are getting better every night so far and she does seem to be getting more efficient at the burps. Had lots of poos overnight too - perhaps her insides are maturing a little.

Have spoken to the midwife this morning (about the unmentionables) and told her about the colic - she said go ahead with the clockwise one finger circling - will let you all know how it goes!!

Oh yes, I hated the way my pink one looked, still do! It became famous among our friends as 'the pink thing' and was brilliant, if hideous. Practically the first thing I bought when I found out newbaby was a boy was a super cute blue vibrating bouncer with polar bears and penguins and a snowglobe :) I bought a swing too - Imogen loathed it, so if newbaby hates it too it's going on ebay :) I've been having fun getting rid of bulky baby stuff I know we won't use. I bought a silver cross style pram in blue too, but I'm of two minds whether or not to keep it, as I know I can sell it on and it was a bit of a silly impulse buy. It's second hand, so I can make my money back and put it towards a tandem.

Cally,

Only just caught up with this having had a nightmare week at work, but HUGE congratulations - told you she would arrive before you needed to be induced.

Commiserations on colic/sleeplessness, I had similar problems, but hopefully they will sort themselves out.

You need to get more rest though, my girl! :shameonu:

This has been the most entertaining thread on the Forum for ages!

well so far so good - am going bed now as the exhaustion is finally showing and my eyelids feel like they're made of lead - but babs has had a really godd day wind-wise. some good burps and bottom action, and she's barely been awake but fingers crossed she'll stay settled.

i cant stand fennel or anything aniseedy, but if she does end up contorting in pain again tonight i'll screw my nose up and try it anyways xx

nighty night x x

Home-made gripe water from steeping dill seeds works too though might be a bit strong for her at the moment x

I used home made fresh gripe water for my boy once, and it worked well. Best give it a few weeks though before trying with babs as you say, I know it isn't recommended just quite yet.

She's been really good the last 12 hours, we even had a good 1.5 hr awake time early afternoon! and last night it didnt seem to be much the wind, rather the fact that she wanted to be wide awake at 2am and was just too important to be awake without having our full adoring attentions. So ended up sat on the couch in the back room, acutely aware that I ought to be keeping the light levels low, not interacting and demonstrating that night is for sleeping. What I was actually doing was talking quietly to her - because every time I stopped giving her active attentions, the crying started again!

Daddy was that tired too that he wasn't as much help, he looked like death warmed up when we went to bed so I tried my best to do the hard work. I ended up zonking though about 4.30 and we both shared the rest of the night!

we had a fabulous night last night! She slept right from 11.50 - 03.50, had a 30 mins nappy change/feed/oggle round the bedroom, then slept again til 07.45!! Both mummy and daddy woke up feeling refreshed and cheery, enough so that we went on a very long walk with the two little ones to the local shop! Called at the playground on the way home, and had some of my oldest-known friends round after lunch. what a lovely day.

hormones must have hit rock bottom as I have found myself with the baby blues since last night, was sat watching strictly with tears pouring for no reason other than I felt weepy. Same again tonight, but a little less soggy. At least I know it's just hormones, and fingers crossed will settle soon.

Wee lady has been very very sleepy all day - so chances are we'll have less of a good night tonight. Oh well... I have plenty of cuddles going spare :)
