The Boy is on the A1 outside Wetherby and it's snowing like mad, but it's wet and not sticking. Won't be long before we're starting up the annual Snow Thread! I have to leave for work in 10 minutes so I have the car engine running to warm it up. Not looking forward to the journey to work. Hoping the temperatures rise today and the snow and ice melt. The Dogmother Posted December 8, 2011 Share Posted December 8, 2011 A bizarre lull in the wind this morning - it was strangely still when I went to walk the dogs this morning, but by 7.30am it was howling a gale again. 9.2deg here at the moment and rather dark. Papers said to expect a sudden drop in temp tonight and snow/gales coming in from the west, so that side of Scotland and Cumbria are expected to get hit ... sorry. It's certainly very gusty here and we had torrential rain briefly .... but the sun is now out . Bit worried about OH coming home from work on his bike . I have made butternut squash soup and knuckling down with the studies. We went outside with a mug of horlicks and took some photos of the moon with other half's new zoom lens last night . Extremely windy here too with torrential rain and sleety, hail showers. The wind is howling and whistling round the cottage. I've tried to secure the acrylic panels - fingers crossed . I bet Direct Line Insurance won't be able to use the line "it wasn't a storm" this time . ali-s Posted December 8, 2011 Share Posted December 8, 2011 Wind getting worse now. Just battled my way to get some logs. Part of the store roof is ripped to shreds and all the logs are soaking. I've got logs dotted about indoors to dry off. According to google weather we have wind blowing at 74 km/h, not sure what that is in miles per hour which I understand better At least the rain is washing away the snow, just small patches here and there now.
