I do wish a storm would happen, there are storm flies all over my patio (and the chooks love to fight tooth and nail over who gets to eat them) and the air feels really heavy. I spent a couple of summers in Kent whilst at uni - digging in Burham near Blue Bell Hill It's just started raining! Only a shower by the looks of it though. jasperaliceuk Posted June 28, 2011 Share Posted June 28, 2011 One heck of a storm here in Surrey - been going on for two hours - around 12 as I was having coffee in Haslemere Garden Centre it kicked off with torrential rain, hail, thunder and lightening - and they have a plastic corrugated roof. You couldn't hear yourself think. I sat worrying about the dog and chickens - we haven't had a storm like this in years. Came home to two 'don't know what you were worried about' chickens and one 'Mum - I need to be with you, preferably on your lap' dog. Milo's coming up 4 and never shown signs of fear with storms but the claps were humdingers and I wasn't home during the worst of it - not that I pander to his fear - we had a clicker training session and he's now munching a frozen Kong while the thunder rolls around. My left shoulder is still sore from Sunday, where it got burnt when I was stood talking to someone. Was careful the rest of the time. We had that about an hour or so ago, we had a light shower, then a darker, louder lot of thunder, and a heavy downpour for about 20 minutes, now it's just overcast, but the air is a lot crisper and colder. I've spent the whole day apart from coffee breaks out in the veg garden and the greenhouses Big dark clouds are now gathering to the South but blue skies and sunny to the North I am listening out for thunder.
