Geoid
Since its winter, I have got a cold (or something) and with it a really sore throat, so sore it hurts to swallow. I was wondering if there are any soft/liquid foods I could eat for breakfast (cereal and toast is a bit sharp!) Thanks in advance!

Lavenders_Blue
How about smoothies for breakfast? Lots of fresh fruit in them to provide cold-fighting vitamins. Porridge would be my other choice, as it is warm and comforting. Soup would definitely be on the menu for lunch (with toast dipped in so it goes all soggy )
..lay a little egg for me
Porridge is my choice. The heat seems to do my throat good and it slips down so easily!
sage
Got to be Ice-cream. But just remember if you open a tub you have to eat it all in 24 hour before it goes off. sage
chickencam
Soup and porridge, not together though, sounds like a plan. Having had several rotten bouts of tonsilitis over the years I feel for you. I also used to eat warm sweet Wheatabix. Take paracetamol about half an hour before you want to eat that will help too. If it is a normal sore throat before a cold, then a hot toddy made with hot water a tablespoon of lemon juice and honey and a generous slosh of whiskey helps no end just before bed. majorbloodnock
Depends how soft you need to go. Eggy bread works well (slice of soft white bread dipped in a whisked egg so the egg soaks in all over, then lightly fried), but you could always head towards an omelette. If you're after an energy boost, how about some Scotch pancakes or buttermilk pancakes with a bit of butter and some maple syrup?
Geoid
I had some pancakes and maple syrup, went down nicely Smoothie tomorrow I think.... I used to like porridge when I was younger, but not anymore (which is a bit strange)
Cinnamon
Scrambled eggs would be good too. Plenty of protein as well,to get you fit again
Valkyrie
Fred! You can't have forgotten my special drinky remedy!!!! Hot lemon with honey - lemon cleanses, the honey soothes. Actually the lemon on the pancakes would have been a good idea. Avoid choccy - that makes it worse.
craftyhunnypie
Snap Fred! I've got it too - plus a coldette ( small cold, don't do normal colds in this house)! I woke up with it this morning. I was out with a lot of people last night, one of which was unwell whilst out. I've had a glass of mulled wine & have lots of logs burning away - as I'm so shivery. Ho hum.
