Cinnamon
It would be a White Star for me. I know they can be flighty, the very devil to catch & can run like the wind, but they have great quirky personalities & lay HUGE pure white eggies I will always have a White Star in my flock
C&T
I agree with an earlier post - while there are lots of lovely looking chooks out there, and would alsways go for a mixed flock, I would go for the straight forward Gingernut. Daft, and very friendly, always into everything, and a good egg layer. Ours always makes us laugh - and you can't do anything in the garden without her approval and involvement! Bexibex
As I am new to this and only have ex-bats then I would have to say another ex-bat as they are a joy to watch blossoming into full health and fitness, love company, like cuddles, like to chat and keep me company when I am in the garden and are such a joy to watch. Janty
I really couldn't choose between my brahmas, cochins and pekins. I could be without any of the other breeds that I have but not those. I love the brahmas because they are so switched on and in control but in a quiet, understated way. They rule the roost but they do it quietly and subtly. The cochins have an air of laid back dense-ness about them which is brilliant. They will happily watch as grapes land at their feet and another chicken pinches them. Then they will continue to look for the grapes as if they saw nothing. Hubby says that when God gave out brains, the cochins forgot to join the queue. The pekins are briliant because they are so feisty and bolshy. For something so small they have a huge attitude. I had to take two of my pekins out of the big WIR as they were bullying one of my brahmas. The only reason I only have five brahmas and two cochins is because they are so big. Otherwise they would be taking over just like the pekins are.
madchickenlady
My heart firmly belongs to my pekins. Small, pretty, comical and with huge characters.
craftyhunnypie
Although I adore my pekins hell of a lot - if I could only ever have one chicken in this world then it would be a normal little Ginger chicken. I love those because they follow you everywhere & sadly I no longer have a ginger. Emma.x

Valkyrie
I'm with Plum - the one I haven't got! I have always wanted a Croad Langshan. You see part of that breed in Brahmas and Orpies and probably a few others too. Black she must be. And if I ever have the opportunity to move to a place with land I'd want a boy as they are supposed to be so placid.

I read somewhwere that the Croad Langshan has the best crow of all: a true cock-a-doodle-doo. If you get a boy let us know if that is true. Mr Rhode Island Red
a chicken that lays regularly, is friendly and cuddly and who's poop smells of lavender
docsquid
I love all my chooks dearly. For large girls it would have to be a Pepperpot/Blackrock. For little girls, definitely a pekin. If I were forced to choose it would be the Pekin, I think. Dilys just has so much personality packed into a tiny frame, lays eggs pretty regularly too. Maureen Lamb
Help I love them all. Only one, would be a Sablepoot they talk to you and love to sit on my shoulder. But how long before I would miss the others. My chickens are the best relaxing therapy for me.
