Unsecure chicken perches

Last weekend when the sun came out (seems such a distant memory now!), I was replacing the Easibed in the run. The ex batts I rehomed on 14th November started rolling about and looking really relaxed and happy. It brought a tear to my eye. They were making that lovely happy clucking sound and closing their eyes as they bathed. Thought I would share it with you all. They look so much better and their combs are really red now.

That's just how I felt - honoured! They have had a tough life so far and I do feel honoured that they now trust me to relax around and eat from my hand (the mealworms defo help!!)

I remember the lump in my throat when I saw my ex-batts dust-bathing for the first time. It really is a privilege to share that with them.

Lovely, I'd forgotten how big and floppy their combs are when they first arrive!

They do have huge combs but now they are red & when I got them their combs & faces were a ghostly white. I love them to bits, they are so friendly & I'm so happy they've had some freedom however brief it may be. I've given them lifeguard every day & mealworms with their evening corn which I think has helped. They have layed daily & they are feathering up nicely.

 

If the post is ok tomorrow I'm expecting some run extensions to make my cube run bigger. Does anyone know, would this be a good time to introduce them to my 4 othe girls?
