koo2cat
Happy New Year! I am sure there are people on this forum who use this already but I just wanted to let people know what fantastic stuff this is! All last year, my girls looked terrible. Dirty bottoms, not laying, poor plumage etc etc. I tried worming them and doing all the usual things you should do but just couldn't get them better. I changed their food as well but nothing seemed to work. I even contemplated dispatching them all and starting again! I found a new local chicken supplier who sold Oregstim and she recommended it so thought I would give it a try. The results are astounding really. All the girls are now healthy, no more dirty bottoms, their feathers are the best they have ever been and the hybrids are laying again, even in this freezing weather! They have been on it since September and I will always use it now. I give it to them in their water in the recommended amount. If any of you are having general health problems with your birds then I would certainly recommend this. Obviously I still worm them every 3 months and powder them for lice as well to be on the safe side! Does anyone else use this wonderful stuff? Tweety
Hi, I use something similar called Herban and I am very pleased with the results too. Do you use Oregostim all the time, or now and again when the hens need a bit of a boost?
Eggasperated
Is this a similar product to the Lifeguard tonic?
Valkyrie
No it's made from oregano oil. I have it and use it. It's quite expensive for a huge bottle - you only need a tiny drop of it too. Herban is the same sort of thing - I have both but am using the stim one first. Must admit I only use it occasionally and tend to use more Lifeguard - in the run it's Lifeguard and on the patio I have orego stim - after your glowing report I think I'll have to use it in the run too, and more regularly! megalin
One of mine has been suffering from similar problems and she's been getting Herban, not sure if it's made a huge difference but she's only had it for a few weeks, not sure how long you should /can use it for, does anybody know? She's still a bit low as she had Myco before, anti biotics didn't completely shake it off so I'm giving the herbal a go. Has anyone used Oregostim and Herban? Is there a difference? Perhaps this is a better product.....! Glad you've had good results!

I currently use Lifeguard to help my girls get over the moult, would Orego-stim be a better product for this, especially as I seem to get feather pecking problems at moult time? Valkyrie
Jlo I have a big bottle and I can always give you some of mine if you would like to test it out first, rather than fork out for it. Eggasperated - I haven't used it much to be honest, just as a general pick me up occasionally and then I tend to rotate it with apple cider vinegar in between the Lifeguard. They are much of a muchness TBH; I have used both and found good results from each of them.
koo2cat
Thank you for all your replies and I am no expert in terms of whether you can use it alongside other tonics but I use it in their water all the time in the recommended amount. I pay £9.99 for a bottle and it comes with a handy measure on the top. I guess it is pricey if you are using it all the time but well worth it I think as my hens have never looked better. I hope it works for everyone as well as it has for us!
Jools
I bought some recently when my Herban had run out and it is good stuff ..... though I'd say that Herban is the better of the two, even though it's more expensive. I used Herban to combat coccidiosis in my LF last year and I also use it with chicks as another anti-cocci measure. I have my LF on it (Oregostim atm) pretty much all the time as I'm too scared to take them off it in case the cocci comes back! I've used it in the past when any of mine have had mucky bums or runny droppings - Herban normally sorts things out rapidly so I presume Oregostim does the same. I wouldn't say it replaces Lifegard (or similar), they're different beasts. I still tend to use Lifegard on my bantams at those stressful times - moulting, coming into lay, broody, bad weather etc - more as a boost than a treatment (if that makes sense).
