Is he planning on building it himself or buying one? Mine is about that size (check out the link in my signature) and cost roughly £400 from Aviaries4u. I have corrugated plastic on the roof and a soil centre with slabs under the edges. I use Easibed bedding which is brilliant at soaking up the poo 8) . I change it every couple of months (but do poo pick daily). My WIR is attached to my garage wall but I've also got it bolted to the slabs on the door side as my garden is very windy.

OH built my WIR and house. We estimated it cost about £350.00 although its not quiet finished as it hasn't got a roof so you could probably add on another £100 for this. The run is 17 foot by 11 foot. He built all the panels from scratch. It took nearly 4 months to build though. [Weekends only] Something smaller would cost a lot less and be quicker to do.

A few Omleteers have Bay Animal Housing WIRs... here's a 6x6for £149 plus £41 delivery or a 9x6 for £183 plus £41 delivery. They're based in Lancaster. I don't have one myself - my OH made ours. We've just moved house so for speed, made one end out of a fence panel (hoping we don't get red mite but it's only temporary!) and joined it with metal brackets to panels recycled from our old WIR. The run is flippin' heavy (two of us can't budge it) so it's not screwed down. We've slabbed the floor, making sure the slabs stick out about six inches so foxes/mice can't get in, and put a plastic underbed tray under the cube for a dust bath. We originally had PVC roofing too but it cracked and leaked under the weight of last year's snow so we swapped to Onduline (tarmac'y version from B&Q). For flooring and bedding, we use Aubiose or Bedsoft when we fancy a cheap change (very much like straw!) and poo pick regularly. Make sure you fit guttering or the rainwater will run off the roof and splash back into the run, soaking the floor and it'll soon turn it mucky.

Good luck! :dance::dance:

Hi, he should be able to put a roof on. I have a run from them, and had a choice between corrugated clear plastic and solid roof with felt; I now have a sloping corrugated roof with gutter and downpipe.

The kickboards round the side are to keep bedding in (I think it also helps to keep things dry at ground level). Bay can do those as well for a bit extra (it's just tongue and groove cladding), or you can add on your own later, some people use lawn edging or polycarbon sheets (think this is what it's called?).

I would suggest emailing them with your requirements, he seemed happy to add or subtract options to suit my budget.
