Louise
It makes sense in as much as a pregnant animal that has just given birth needs to fuel its body further so eating protein is a fast way of doing that Protein of its own kind needs little adjustment to become part of its body because the amino acids are already in the right format and don't need to be changed the essential ones (which can't be manufactured from other types) are also all there It sounds as though I am condoning cannabalism - I'm not just explaining why it makes sense but only to eat your own after all remember BSE
Tom and Barbara
i have heard of the placenta thing...and as much as i'm an offal fan, i think i'll be letting the hospital deal with this one in august...i just can't believe a TV chef did it! and looking at those biogs reminds me bronze....galton blackiston - is he the ultimate kicked puppy or what?? the man looks like he'd cry if you said you didn't like his food. he's so WET! i couldn't watch the great british menu when it came to judging him for fear of watching him crumble with rejection, it was like a blood sport. redfrock
I'm a Gordon kinda gal! You are quite right it is that bare chest that seems to do it for me although he is starting to get a bit craggy, the ego seems to be expanding and the blue contact lenses and heavily coiffed hair ever more prominent, but a quick flash of that chest and I go weak all over again! But I have always been a bit partial to Rick Stein - no idea why - he's old enough to be my father!!!! - but he always seems really lovely, and character is such an appealing thing .... ubereglu
I have a claim to fame! I've met Kevin Woodford. I was about 6 at the time and on holiday in Shropshire. He's really nice and was teasing me as he didn't think all our stuff would fit in the car-not a surprise really-6 suitcases, 6 people and food etc! Egluntyne
I like Michael Caines...an inspirational character to have overcome the loss of an arm and rise to the top of his profession. Seems a pleasant sort of person too.

The Dogmother
My taste in chefs (Gary Rhodes) is a bit old hat - i don't watch telly, so have no idea who these others are Might have to get it out of the cupboard and plugged in though - we're going to the filming of a BBC reality show at a local restaurant. We get a meal and get filmed too - be fun to see what it's all about! The producer did laugh when I told her that I've never watched a reality TV show though

My son pointed it out to me and he had only noticed that something was a bit different by the way Michael sharpened a knife.

Egluntyne
Am sooooo excited...was first in the queue for a signed copy of James Martin's book at Waterstones in Sheffield today (how sad I hear you say ) .....and I can report that he is absolutely DROP DEAD GORGEOUS in the flesh and charming too. You wouldn't kick him out of bed on a chilly morning that's for certain.
The Dogmother
Just been given the lowdown on Gordon Ramsay by a local supplier, who went to school with him (I had no idea that GR was a local). Allegedly, he says that he went to school in Stratford upon Avon, but he went to Drayton school in Banbury (well, no-one admits to going there anyway). When he says that he was playing footie for Glasgow, he was actually playing for a local team. I don't know how true this is, but it's juicy gossip nonetheless
Cinnamon
I do like a bit of juicy gossip! Has no one mentioned how dishy Jimmy is? I know he is not a chef as such, but he has had a cook book out (& a darn good one at that!)

Do you think he would have been that careless if it had been his real hand or do you think it was a lack of feeling so knowledge of his arm placement. If you can understand what I'm trying to say
