luggage16
Girls are all in bed (and they put themselves there!) . They are so lovely and friendly! Took them about 5 mins before they decided to leave the eglu and have a wander around the run! One of them had laid an egg on the way home too - my daughter was very impressed! They all seem happy and healthy. Couple of queries though, one was a little bit sneezy after trying the mash - was that because the mash is a bit dusty or is this something i need to keep an eye on? Also one of them has 1 sticky out feather on one wing - again is this an issue? Hadnt noticed it when we chose her so wondering if it happened on the way home or even since theyve been in the run? Offered them some cooked sweet potato and some cucumber but they werent interested at all, were far more interested in asking to come out through the run door lol! Anyway heres some pics of them! I love them so much already - they are so friendly and cheeky already - I have a feeling they are going to be full of character! this pic shows the sticky out feather

I've just ordered a white and black silkies, the colours make such a lovely contrast to each other. Have fun.
luggage16
today the feather is all back to normal, havent heard a single sneeze and weve had another egg. We also has a soft shelled one too, am i right in thinking thats common when they first start laying? They are so friendly, chatter away to me whenever im in the garden and come running to say hello when i open the door of the run or the back of the eglu! They like to be stroked too! They are now called Agnes, Betty (astralorps), Omlet and Pancake (pekins). Sam
tracyann
Gorgeous girls, I hope they have settled in nicely, my three new girls are ok and a bit of pecking but nothing too drastic just the odd "get out of my way" peck from Lulu.
Chortle Chook
Your girls look lovely! I'm sure that feather was just a bit ruffled in the journey but I'd keep an eye on the sneezes. It could just be a bit of mash up the nose, or it could be a way of saying 'I'm a bit confused, not certain of myself at the moment' or it could be a cold. If it continues it could well be the latter. Last time two of my chooks had this I took them to the vet and was given expensive antibiotics but I have since been told that a bit of extra TLC would have done the trick. I expect others can give more advice on this.
