The ladies are home! with pics!!!

Recommended Posts

Here we are as promised!!! They all seem really happy and chilled (at the moment :) ). I made the tough decision to swap the Speckledy, felt really bad when I left the other one behind, but I know I've made the right choice! We've just left them for now to get used to their new home but obviously I had to take some pictures for you!

they all seem to love eachother! Still a bit scared someone in the neighbourhood will complain, but hope that will wear off!

This is a full picture of the run, fully enclosed (around the tree - it wasn't easy! ). I'm working on driving foot long wooden pegs into the ground at 6cm intervals to make digging more difficult for Mr Fox, but that's a work in progress...

They all seem really chilled and love each other, no squabbling yet. They keep poking their through the fence to eat the grass, it literally is greener!

Thanks, Sam, for guiding me here. I had to find out what had happened

Lovely looking chooks hopingforchickens . They make a super trio. If your neighbour doesn't like your fox proof pen you could always put roses up it so it is no more offensive than a pergola. The odd prickly rose might help to put off any foxes too.

It's funny but me and my mum have discussed this as an option! :)

Hurray!

Really pleased for you! I like the speckeldy best :D

Just you wait for your first egg! You'll be running back to the house with it and then fighting over who gets to eat it  (Or was that just in my house  )

Do they have names yet?

Can't wait for my first egg, yes I love the Speckledy, I dissmissed it to start with but when I saw them they were so beautiful. The Copper Star is pretty lovely too, she has a gorgeous blacky/bluey tinge to her in the sunlight.

Their names are, Henrietta (the Speckledy, my hen)

Cornflake (the Amberlink dd1s hen)

Lovely Tallulah (the Copper Star dd2s hen - bless her!)

still no signs of a pecking order, they have all used the roosting bars, had a dust bath and finally went to sleep on the top of the hen house! just been out to put them to bed. :shh:

Do remember to get dressed before going out to see them in the morning! You have some very lucky chickens :D

:lol::lol: You did make my laugh fluffy chick. My neighbours are now well used to seeing me go out in my OH's dressing gown and with bare feet on weekend mornings. Not so good when I have forgotten to sweep the path of droppings the night before

I have to admit I did sneak out at 6.45 in my dressing gown to let them out! Had another really good day with them, they are very fond of roosting on top of the house instead of my roosting bars I made for them and consequently pooing all over the roof  but that's something to work on... I think they catch the last rays there so I can see why they do it! 8)

Ewww  Actually I do often go out in my dressing gown, except mines bright pink with stars all over. Goes nicely with my purple wellies in winter though.
