I hear chickens in the neighbourhood (Stoke-on-Trent)

Recommended Posts

So I'm in the bathroom, having been out to give Treacle PP and Toffee GNR their breakfast and to collect their fresh warm !egg!!egg! when an almighty bok boking starts up  sending me flying downstairs to rescue them from whatever evil had managed to penetrate the safety of the (green eglu) run! Slipperless, makeupless and breathless,(but thankfully wearing pyjamas  ) I take a slide tackle around the corner of the decking to find them looking up at me as if to say "What's up Mum?" And yet...and yet I could still hear the cry for help!

It would appear the new folks, two gardens behind us, have chickens! Yay!!!! Now I won't have to take full responsibility for disturbing the neighbourhood. I think a little stroll up their road might be in order soon to introduce myself; unless of course they are omleteers and see this post.

So, if you have recently moved to Bucknall, Stoke on Trent, and have taken on chickens, please make contact!

What super news - chicken buddies. I'd love a chicken neighbour but i don't think it'll happen. I think my neighbours think I am nuts !!!!

Oooooh - new henny friends in the pipeline  Over here we are lucky enough to be surrounded by chicken keepers (not as mad as us, we name our girls). One of our neighbours has a flock of Guinea Fowl - I love them ! Hmmmm maybe a future project.....we laugh at their "Pot-Rack, Pot-Rack" calling :lol:

There is the get together area on this forum so you can plan meet ups which is good for meeting people in your general area. From this I know that there are Omleteers near me but not close enough for me to just pop down the road when I need to hug some big chooks (rather than the little ones I'm allowed to keep) :(

Not sure if I'd want to put my address up but the general area is fine

And it would be really fun to meet up with other local chicken "nuts"

I have a wooden house though hope that wouldn't be a problem

Chubby Chook I really enjoy reading your posts :!:

As my my OH isnt as chicken crazy as me and I'm the only chicken keeper out of my friends

this site has been a really wounderfull help and funny too

I'm so jealous about your neighbouring chickens ! I wish I knew some other chicken keepers in York! I feel like a !good Life" escapee with our four. Yet there must be someone else somewhere in the vague vicinity as the local garden centres, pet shops and even Wilkinsons all sell layers pellets & feeders!

come out come out wherever you are....

SNAP - that's exactly how I feel about my corner of Oxfordshire. I used to live in York . . . what a shame I moved or you and I could have chicken visited together :(

I'm sure you will have chickens in close proximity, CC ! My friend moved from York to Cambridge and she's the one that got us started wiht chickens after my children & OH got very attached to her flock when we stayed for a weekend ! (I still blame her each time I have to do a yukky-chicken-related job!)

My work colleague has bantams, but also lives in a rural location, so most of my concerns about urban foxes & keeping the noise down for our neighbours, don't really apply to her.
