If I were to remodel the Go I'd put the nest at the back. A- this is easier to access eggs and B- my girls sleep at the very back thus never really sleeping in the nest.

 

What would you do? I think suggestions are always good for improvements.

I was thinking the exact same thing today. We have had ours nearly three weeks and I have to kneel on the ground to reach the eggs. As I have a back and shoulder problem I can't just reach in - I think, even if I didn't, it is still a bit of a stretch!

 

The other think I would like is better access to the run for cleaning - I use a long rake from the entrance to rake up poo but again its not that easy crouching down.

I would hinge the run panels on my Cube and Eglu so access is so much easier for humans, simples!

In my classic I would have liked a choice of having the egg port on the left or right. I've had it in 3 places now and the egg port has always been on the 'wrong' side for me Cheap wooden coops often give you a 'left handed or right handed' version. It wouldn't be that hard would it?! Also doors in the run would be good as cleaning the run is impossible with an extension.

If I could I'd have an access door on the roof of the run on the Go as well. Sometimes you just need to access something from the top. It would help with cleaning too. As it is, we're going to be build a walk in run as it's difficult to clean. I still HIGHLY recommend the Go and run, but we'll have six girls anyway so we were going to need the space.

I would have the perches solid underneath, my chickens manage to get poo under the perches so I have to clean inside them too

I love this question, and btw I have already modified my classic 3 and 4 m runs to have hatches half way along so I can reach in and do whatever necessary.

 

I would totally redesign the front of the classic.

Imagine the front looking as a half slice of orange, standing on end made of 3 segments. The middle ( 'V' ) segment would be the door space. The whole front wall will be double walled and the door segment sandwiched inside able to slide in an arc (fixed at the bottom) to either be up thus closing the door or down to open the door using a handle sliding up or down on the side. That way it would be less draughty around the bottom and some clever-clogs can invent an easy automatic door opener.

Oh yes I would also like to widen it,and make a bit taller in fact slightly bigger all round so that it fits the extension B height and width, which would therefore mean all will be one height and you can add more of the same without all that 'A goes before B but you only need one but can have lots of Bs kerfuffle', and the whole run tunnel will be roomier

Lastly I would improve the locking system at the base as I struggle to get the flat rounded metal piece through to the other side without resorting to kicking it in.

Apart from all that they are perfect of course, I love the classics warts and all

Totally agree about the need to kick the locking rod in being frustrating!
