Janepie33
Have just watched the new - very Americanised - Torchwood. LOVED the previous series. Not at all sure about this new one. Any Torchwood fans out there?
Sam Palmer
Yes,but not seen it yet. Will watch tomorrow night. Looking forward to it, but not sure about the whole American thing. John Barrowman in Cardiff was American enough for me!
sjp
jury's still out for me I'm afraid
bluekarin
We watched it and I found it a bit too American as well. My ED loves it though, so she will forgive anything It's an interesting story line, and I thought Bill Pullman was very very creepy *shudders* Looking forward to finding out why things are happening the way they are, though. chickencam
Jury is still out here too, I loved the old series. I do love Gwen she is so sassy, not sure that it will be quite the same without the rest of the team though.
snowberry
It was ver mumbly american at the beginning but things started looking up when Captain Jack arrived; I hate the idea of it being American now though; I hope this doesn't come over the wrong way, but I'm glad it focuses on the more 'bizarrre' ways of dying rather that the more normal ones as that would be more upsetting... squiffs
Gonna watch it tonight after I've made the OH watch the final episode of children of earth - I got him hooked. I love bill pullman, I hope he's brill in this. Re. Gwen/Eve Myles - I totally have a girl crush on her. She's adorable and feisty - I appreciate likeable characters. A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Loved it. RTD will keep it very Welsh still, but it is a global phenomenon they are investigating and it was brilliant to watch some of the big budget scenes with Our Gwen holding it all together. The holding the baby scenes were fantastic. Gwen Cooper is amazing, yanks or not. A very clever move to get the cash, ramp up the thrills but maintain its heart by RTD. yvonne
I never really got into past series, thinking they were really kids programs (like doctor who), but as John Barrowman is so gorgeous and the reviews were so good, I watched last night and am completely hooked - such an interesting angle to take on different circumstances where people don't die and great acting - little bit too American, but not too much I thought. squiffs
I never really got into past series, thinking they were really kids programs (like doctor who), Nah, Torchwood has always been marketed as Doctor Who for adults - the themes in it are far too adult for young children. bellekatz
I wasn't too sure about the departure from Cardiff but I LOOOOVVEEDD it! It reminded me more of the early series of Torchwood ( though I found C of E very powerful) and i am so glad that Gwen is still there. JB was great and cant wait to see the next episode. Just hope that the things go back to normal at the end..... hate the idea of Captain Jack being mortal... maybe they want to kill him off
Space Chick
I wasn't completely taken by it, but its early days so time will tell I love playing "spot the places I know" with most of it filmed in South Wales in fact, only this week OH was at a photography shoot right by the house in the middle of no-where, the house even got into a few shots
Goosey Lucy
I missed most of Children of Earth so was shocked to only see Gwen and Captain Jack. Have treated myself to a Torchwood boxset Have also listened to two Torchwood: The Lost Files plays on Radio 4 podcast while making cakes at 5am this morning Am not sure how I feel about the new series, will stick with it though. ubereglu
I haven't watched torchwood for ages, but there were 3 very good Torchwood radio stories on Radio 4 from Monday to Wednesday this week. They're available on listen again.

Sam Palmer
Watched it last night. I think I enjoyed it on the whole, tho maybe when it gets to to the US it will be an American overload. Thought the trailer for the ENTIRE series at the end was a bit OTT though!
bellekatz
Sorry I was trying to hide it from people who hadnt watched it yet as I didnt want to give the story line away....
sazmet
agree with the trailer...thats a few trips to the kettle i can make now as they seemed to have shown everything!! But quite excited to find out what its all about as we loved the other torchwoods! x
squiffs
I was very disappointed by how hollywood it was - even down to the ambient music during scenes, I preferred the british cut The story and british characters are still great, but I could do without the yanks. Seagazer
Didn't watch any of the last series but thought I'd give this a go. Quite enjoyed it but now not sure I can ever view the lovely Bill Pullman in While You Were Sleeping the same way again. Boy he looked nasty and evil. Chickendoodle
3 episodes in and not impressed so far. Where has the charm and humour gone (or should that be humor now that it is so much an American series) It was so good because it always had a Dr Who link but was the "after the watershed" version with slightly more adult topics and like Dr Who it was quirky. This doesn't seem to know where it is going and is now another generic US series containing beautiful people. Looks like they have made it too long as well as US series have to be long enough for the sponsors to get their advertising quotient in. And what's with the bedroom scenes - don't seem to have anything to do with the story. Very disappointed
Cinnamon
We are loving it here - its like a cross between the old Torchwood & 24 - brilliant
