jackian
I have the same problem (others do as well.) 2 of my girls do this It used to concern me but as others have said "What the heck if they want to snuggle up together " They are happy. Each morning when I let them out I go into the box with my scoop and take out the poo. It takes a minute .I scatter a bit of sanatising powder in and it is ready for the egg laying. I have never had a problem with the eggs.
chestnutmare
My girls get poo in their nesting box tpp. I use a cat litter scoop every day to empty the nesting box and put fresh bedding in. That's how I keep my eggs clean.
muzzboy
Yes they do look very snug in the nest box and it does not take long in the morning a scoop and new bedding and they a good to go guess I spoil them but they a worth it
gongladosh
With our previous top hen, (we had 4 at the time, in a Cube) we had 3 on the nest and all 3 of them pooed in it. The biggest hen (our top hen now but 2nd in command at the time) was given her orders as her overnight poos were quite something. Her front half was allowed in the nest area, but her backside had to remain over the roosting bars...

migsy
I use easibed or something similar - the poo just falls to the bottom so the eggs don't get covered.
Henergy
I tend to lift them out each night but someone also mentioned about putting a football or plant pot in to stop them getting in. Of course you need to get up early & remove it !!
hammy72
One of mine poos in the nest box but I just scoop it out in the morning as they don't seem to go back in to lay until about 10am.

Oddly, it's true - it wasn't us doing it though - the other hens made her stand in the circular doorway between the nest box and the main roosting bit!
