Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

Well, having lived in our house for 13 years we have never had a pheasant in the garden.

My son took the pics as we had gone out all day. The pheasant took a real liking to my girls, I'm not sure if he was after them or their food.

 

The trouble was DS didn't let the girls out all day because he was worried what the pheasant might do.

Would he have caused them any problems ?

They are so pretty aren't they. We used to have one come to the garden - we called it Tarquin. Not sure if it would be any threat to chickens.

Lovely photos! What a handsome fellow he is. I don't think he would have caused your girls any problems - our garden is full of pheasants, male and female, and they have never shown anything other than mild curiosity in my girls.

As you say, I suspect that they are more interested in the hens' food!

listen out for his chuck chuck call...he will be back if he knows there is a food supply. He is no threat to your girls just a lovely additional mobile garden ornament

He may well return. Mine visit regularly, and I feed them sometimes. One little girl will even eat out of my hand!

We have a cock pheasant who visits our allotment. I think he's after the food and a bit of male company, as he often spends time in with the boys.

Ooer, not sure I would want him messing with my girls especially if anything were to hatch and turn into a black type ( I have a big phobia of black animals - except my rabbit who is mostly black but has pretty white bits all over his tummy, )

It's unlikely he would.

In the story behind the link, the one that was used to breed with bantams was hatched and raised by a chicken, so it's no surprise that he wanted to breed with chickens. Only a few of the offspring survived.

I have a few Pheasants that come in my garden. I can practically hand feed one of the females. But my girls chase them off as soon as they see them - especially the cock Pheasant He legs it as soon as he see's them storming over
