WH, good advice. I have a feeling she is c) bit of an old bag... because, from what I have been told from my neighbour, neighbour's daughter and husband were not best pleased that she was 'going on and on' and having a proper old moan about this. The impression I've got is not that it was a comment such as, 'did you hear the hens today?'... if you see what I mean.

I heard her dog outside my house this morning at 8.30am whilst she was talking to a window cleaner next door so I went downstairs to fuss with somethggn outside so that I was available to be spoken to. By the time I got the key in the front door she started to walk up her the strret towards her house.

I am feeling a lot calmer now and have got my head around a woman (with a noisy dog, six doors up from me) complaining about me. But I still feel as though I need to speak to her.

The good thing is you've had a few days to think about it, rather than rushing in and then maybe regretting what was said in the heat of the moment. (I've had a couple of harsh lessons this year in why that approach doesn't work :? ). If it was me, I would probably wait and see if anything else is said and if it is, then I would go and have a chat with her (whilst still thinking she was a bit of an old bag of course  ) :)

Hi Chestnutmare

Shes picking on you because your new. If you had a dog or rabbits instead of chickens they would be in her sight for complaint.

I expect you will find out at a later date that she annoys most of your neighbours and they are just putting up with her for a quiet life.

I know it annoys to be spoken about behind your back but just weather it for now and she will find someone else to have a moan about.

I found that no reaction ended moaning quite quickly as they do tend to want a reaction and when they dont get it they go some where else. (Im speaking from experience and I feel sorry for the people who have her as a neighbour now)

I have recently had an awful neighbour and she suddenly need my help quite urgently and ever since she smiles and waves to me. Madness isnt it

Some people just have nothing better to do.

I hear things all day long but they are just part of everday life. Sirens, dogs barking, car alarms, screaming children, crows, magpies etc. Some things are nicer to hear than others.

It's a shame some neighbours can be so frustrating.

We have lived in our house for 13 years and most of the neighbours still don't really talk to us :(

Don't let your neighbour get to you xxxxx

You really have my sympathy, I have been quite lucky so far, i dont know of anyone complaining about my girls. I live on a tiny estate. 15 houses in total and my cul de sac has 3 including me. We have been here 4 years but still dont really know the neighbours. I know i would be fuming if one of those were gossiping and whinging about me. Luckily the neighbour who knows everyones business gets free eggs from me so i think she is on side :D

If it will make you feel better then go and speak to her, you will feel better for it even if she does have the *mans dangly bits* to tell you what her problem is.

The local dogs are far more annoying and noisey than my girls so woe betide them if any complaints come my way

Thanks all. :)

I heard her passing yesterday morning (as I do every morning) with her noisy dog. I went outside to 'get something from my car' so I was on the street when she passed. I didn't even look her way but she gave my an OTT 'morning' but seemed careful too. I replied firmly with no eye contact or smile. Which is not like me as I'm a friendly person.

If she hasn't 'got it' now and I hear she's been talking about me will speak to her.

Apparently 'P' was saying to my neighbour's daughter that she was thinking about going to see her mother about the noise... BUT I LIVE NEXT DOOR, MY CHICKENS, SEE ME! :wall:
