soapdragon
I know there are some knowlegable E-bayers out there so I wondered if anyone could help......... I list the odd few unwanted/outgrown items on E-bay and recently sold a carpet bag that had been kicking around in the cupboard for ages. To my delight and astonishment it went for a little over £50.00 ! I wrapped it and posted it but, in spite of the usual note to the buyer to tell them it was on its way and asking them to confirm safe receipt either via feedback or plain old e-mail, I have heard nothing. I sent another polite e-mail about 10 days ago asking them to confirm receipt as I wanted to spend the money on winter coats for the boys but, again, got no reply . I am really worried that, if I go ahead and spend the money (and, after all, that is the object of the excercise!!) and they then claim, at a later date, it did not arrive or say they are not happy, I will really struggle to find the £50 . I have contacted e-bay about this to see if there is a time limit on such claims (thinking about the 45 day rule on opening a case in the resolution centre) but they just say that the best thing to do is to contact the buyer again and have offered to provide me with a 'phone number. I am reluctant to 'phone them but find it odd that there does not seem to be a time limit on claims....or is there!? Any advice welcome and thanks in advance! Ain't Nobody Here
I've had quite a few buyers recently who haven't bothered to leave feedback so I have no idea if the item arrived/they were happy with it . I used to chase people up and ask for feedback if they were happy but I don't bother now . I think that if it hadn't arrived/they weren't happy with it, they would have been in touch with you by now. If you have copies of your emails (and proof of posting?) you should be covered at your end, I would have thought. I'm afraid I don't know anything about the time limits . It is so frustrating when they won't respond, though .
The Warrens
i buy and sell alot on ebay i bought quite alot of stuff before i went on hoilday , so didnt get chance to leave feedback, so when i arrived back and logged on i had a few messages asking if i had got them ok....... not everyone leaves feed back, so if youve sent it and youve not heard from them, and its been 10 days, they would of contacted you to say they havent got it ...........so if i was you and its been 10 days , id just assume they have it , but they my be the type of ppl who dont leave feed back
The Dogmother
How very rude of them! You've gone out of your way to contact them to check that it has arrived. I am assuming that you have copies of your emails and proof of postage, so I think you're pretty well covered. I'd send one last email - I wouldn't phone as it's hard to get proof of what was said - and inform them that this will be your last email on the subject and that if you haven't had confirmation from them by xxx [date] that you will assume that they have received said goods and are happy with them. You can't be fairer than that.
Redwing
Personally i wouldnt email them again if it was me as you are only giving them to opportunity to say they didnt get it especially if they feel you may be doubtful as to whether they did If I spent £50 on something and it didnt arrive I would be in touch with the seller pretty quickly I think you can only assume that it arrived but that they havent signed back in since or simply cant be bothered to leave feedback I buy quite a bit on ebay and tend to save my feedback notes till i have a few to do then do them all on a quiet evening so some dont get feedback for a few weeks
Guest
Always get proof of posting!!!
Cinnamon
Feedback isn't a given - it is there to be left IF you want to,& many people do not bother. Just keep the proof of postage (always get one) & assume it is with them...I am sure they would have got in touch by now if this was not the case. At least they paid.......I have 4 sales outstanding since they ended on Sunday & am desperate for the case in my account
Bramble
I'm a relatively new seller on Ebay and am amazed at how many people don't leave feedback - to the extent that I'm afraid I assume that the item has arrived and the buyer is happy with it unless they tell me different. I've only had one guy get in touch to say the item hadn't arrived, I refunded him and made a claim via Royal Mail (proof of posting is important!!!) but I've noticed even lots of sellers don't leave feedback? soapdragon
I simply don't understand why some people take so long to pay ! Don't they understand that, the longer they take to pay, the longer their goods will take to reach them - hardly rocket science ! Hope they cough up soon Cinnamon! When I have posted an item, in adition to marking as despatched, I e-mail direct to say something along the lines of ' I would be grateful if you would confirm safe receipt of your parcel either via feedback or just e-mail as I always worry until I know that things are where they should be' - this usually works tho often I get feedback AND an e-mail but thats fine !! Also I leave feedback for everything so the buyer knows I'm happy and its there! Equally the Post Office now seem to print nice receipts withthe postcode on, which is handy and takes up less room than those huge handwritten ones they used to do but, yes Louisewomble, you are right; proof of posting is paramount and I have an envelope tucked away with all the receipts for items where buyers have not left feedback (just in case!) Its a useful way of getting a bit of cash for things you no longer need but I do sometimes wonder if its all worth it!! Thanks for all the advice!
